Women's history editathon edit

Hey - Sorry for the late notice, but since you have yourself tagged as living in the Bay Area, I thought you might appreciate notification that we’re having an event Saturday! It’ll be held at Hoyt Hall, an all-women's house of the Berkeley Student Cooperative from 3 to 6 pm tomorrow. The main event page is here. Anyone is welcome to show up, but we’re expecting a significant number of people to come who have literally never edited Wikipedia before. If you’re an experienced Wikipedian who would be able to provide useful help to some of the newbies, your presence would be especially appreciated (and it might be a good idea for you to show up at 2 or 2:30 instead of three. Thanks, Kevin Gorman (talk) 02:00, 6 April 2013 (UTC) I’m AWB’ing this message to all Wikipedians who have tagged themselves in the bay area. I’m sorry if the message isn’t of interest to you; feel free to delete it. I’ll be unlikely to send future messages in a similar way, but if really don’t want to receive future messages of this sort, please let me know. Reply

California cuisine edit

I fully support your proposal over at Talk:California cuisine. In my experience, members of the food and drink project on that page have a long record of extremely poor judgment and making very bad decisions when it comes to food-related articles. In several different food articles, I've had to revert and argue about their changes, content modifications that had no basis in reliable sources. I've pretty much abandoned food-related articles because of their poor editing and even worse critical thinking skills. Viriditas (talk) 05:04, 22 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes… well… I agree. But, food in the United States is very diverse, complex and subject to so much interpretation, by style, region, history (and generational outlook), etc. I'm just saying that's why it's so hard to weigh through it. Anyway, thanks for the support. Ca.papavero (talk) 05:42, 22 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for April 30 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Chinese chicken salad, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mustard. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:21, 30 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oops! That was indeed unintended. I knew the right page, but, as I was adding, subtracting, trading, and transferring items in my editing process; whereas, I had lots of windows open and didn't go back and put in the right reference: Mustard (condiment). When creating a list of items like this, I don't necessarily think it's necessary to point out links to other Wikipedia articles. But, some of the items are exotic, so I might leave them as formatted. In this case, I was trying to differentiate between dry (ground) mustard, such as Chinese hot, versus common wet mustard like American or Dijon. So, in these such cases, I don't have a problem with it. But, otherwise, I think that creating all those links can clutter an article, as if not to assume that the reader has a basic comprehension of things like chicken, as a farm animal, versus a cooked food. What do you think?
With a different regard, I also changed the sentences with supposed reference to Pan-Asian influence, versus pan-Asian Cuisine. That's a noticeable difference, if you click on the links. At that, it still causes me to realize more possible disambiguation, as well as attribution, such as to the citation. I intend to look into this and other citations (maybe two or three more) that are mentioned here. Notice that the citations don' have quotations attached to them, but only appear to be paraphrasing or interpretation thereof.
By the way, I also realize that you don't add "See also" links to articles that are already mentioned in the textual body. I removed one, in that case. Thanks for your help! Ca.papavero (talk) 19:18, 30 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Another thought: I actually do have some disambiguation issues on this page and possibly others that I'd like to consider. I just haven't made a priority of it yet, until I bring my thoughts together on those pages, so as to better articulate the issues. So, I'll probably follow-up on that. These are disambiguations that appear atop (at lead) of an article. Such as to add one in, or to better phrase. Lol… if you can comprehend better disambiguation to to a standing disambiguation. Fiorina edit

I inserted a footnote, so is your "citation needed" tag still necessary?Anythingyouwant (talk) 05:46, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Aha! Yes.. does the job. Bravo! Good work… Proactive work! Lol. I'm working on this section now, however. Frankly, I think it's become a mess again. We've lost a lot of the content, as well as that paragraphs now have new sentences added at beginnings and endings to re-slant and editorialize. Many significant points have been wiped-out. Including citations, removed without notes or real explanation. Ca.papavero (talk) 05:57, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Well, at least you can remove that tag.Anythingyouwant (talk) 05:59, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Done. Just removed it. Ca.papavero (talk) 06:07, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks. Time for me to sleep.Anythingyouwant (talk) 06:08, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
BTW, I don't know what happened to the citation for "Sellers, Patricia (October 12,1998)." It works, but some problem with the date. I was trying to figure it out. Ca.papavero (talk) 06:07, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Article Ratings edit

Greetings! On Carly Fiorina and Bernie Sanders I am reluctant to assess the page since they are both changing very rapidly and have a lot of content dispute. When it calms down I'll take another look. If you have any questions, tag me here. Thanks! DaltonCastle (talk) 01:50, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have practically lost all faith in those articles, which you can see from my comments there, especially at Carly Fiorina. Problems with the article about Bernie Sanders are overwhelming in my opinion. I wouldn't even know where to begin. And with my horrible experience at Carly Fiorina, I'm no longer in the mood to make such ventures. I spent lot of my time and effort at Carly Fiorina, but only then to see much of it shot to hell. Unless Wikipedia can control these personalities and their politics, I really don't see the point of it all. And its the credibility of the article, if not Wikipedia itself that remains at stake. Carly Fiorina Assessment Request edit

I have reviewed the assessment request you submitted to WikiProject Biography for the Carly Fiorina article and determined that the article has been assessed as B-class, the highest assessment usually given to articles submitted at the WikiProject Biography Assessment page. If you still feel a higher assessment is warranted, I would recommend submitting the article to Wikipedia:Good articles.--TommyBoy (talk) 23:25, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:42, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge edit

You are invited to participate in the 50,000 Challenge, aiming for 50,000 article improvements and creations for articles relating to the United States. This effort began on November 1, 2016 and to reach our goal, we will need editors like you to participate, expand, and create. See more here!
