Username policy edit

I believe you are not in fact Bradley Kohn, so:   Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Bradley_Kohn, and I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Bradley Kohn", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Pinkbeast (talk) 11:18, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Bradley Kohn, is not your own name: you have written "I am not trying to write an article about myself...I'm trying to set one up about Bradley Kohn" - we do not permit accounts which impersonate other people.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.

If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:53, 30 September 2013 (UTC) Hi there. Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 17:35, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Autobiography, and conflict of interest edit

Two links which you should read are WP:Autobiography and WP:Conflict of interest. - David Biddulph (talk) 14:07, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I understand from your message at WP:HD that you are not Bradley Kohn, in which case you need to read WP:IMPERSONATE and request a user name change. - David Biddulph (talk) 14:54, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:37, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I note that the PR company Creative Ninjastries has a single director, who is listed as being Bradley Kohn. Are you prepared to undertake, if unblocked, completely to avoid editing either about this PR company or about Bradley Kohn? --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 15:58, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, I'm a little confused as to the situation I'm in. I'm trying to set up a wikipedia page for Bradley Kohn who is a music producer//engineer//songwriter. I set up the username Bradley Kohn which I now realise I need to change. It now seems that if I change the username I will not be able to edit this page anymore. The PR company your refer to is a separate entity to the page I am trying to create. I'm trying to be as neutral as possible in creating the page but it is the first I am doing so it's a learning curve. Can you please let me know what my options are so it's all a little clearer for me. Thanks in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.133.142.171 (talk) 09:04, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you request, and are granted, a change of user name, then this page (as it is your user talk page) will be renamed as part of that process, as explained at Wikipedia:Changing username. You have been given links in the section above that explain why you should not be writing an article where you have a conflict of interest. If you wish to contribute to other aspects of the encyclopedia you will be welcome here, but if your purpose is to advertise and promote one individual, Wikipedia is not the place to do that. - David Biddulph (talk) 09:49, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks David. I'd like to change my username to {{unblock-un|indiepedia}} Can you please let me know what I need to do from here to ensure my username is changed and the article unblocked. Thanks

I can't see anywhere on this page where you have directly addressed the conflict of interest. As has been noted many times, there is more than just a username issue concerning the use of this account. Please ensure any future unblock requests specifically address the inherent conflict of your edits. It would also be helpful if you would explain what topics, outside of the ones you are directly connected to, you intend to edit. A review of the Guide to Appealing Blocks will provide more direction. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 19:26, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

In the 'instructions' section it asks me to copy the unblocked-auto/... code generated for me in the IP blocked? section. Can you please let me know where this is as I have searched but can't find it. Thanks

Hi there, can I please get feedback on my last comment here regarding the IP address. Many thanks (Bradley Kohn (talk) 15:29, 1 October 2013 (UTC))Reply

Hello, can I please get feedback on my last couple of comments or an update as to what's currently happening so I can get things in motion. Many thanks

David or whoever is there...can I please get feedback. Thanks

Here are a few key questions:
::Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory?
::Do you understand conflict of interest?
::Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable?

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. You keep saying things like, "I'm trying to set up a wikipedia page for Bradley Kohn who is a music producer//engineer//songwriter" If you are only here to do that, it appears you are not here to build an encyclopedia. That's why everybody is so reluctant to unblock you. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:22, 2 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for getting back to me Orange Mike. My intention was not to violate the 3 principles in anyway. It is purely a case of inexperience of working with wikipedia and understanding the principles. If I am unblocked then I would not violate the principles in due course. I'd really appreciate anything you can do. Thanks.

Hi there...just wondering if anyone can get back to me re my last comment. Kind regards

Hello...any chance I can get feedback on this account as I'd love to get it unblocked as per my comments above. Kind regards.

Hello...it's been 8 days since anybody has got back to me. Any chance of an update? Thanks

Hi there...I was really hoping to have heard from someone by now. Can you please update me. Many thanks

Sure. Will you avoid writing about Bradley Kohn, and/or topics you have a conflict of interest with and add material to other topics? Kuru (talk) 20:19, 16 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, can you please confirm how a wikipedia article for Bradley Kohn can be created if the conflict of interest can't be addressed? I have absolutely no intention of editing any other topics. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.133.142.171 (talk) 09:54, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

The answer to that is simple. There are nearly 20 million Wikipedians, and any one of them can create an article on Bradley Kohn if they believe that he is notable in Wikipedia's terms, and if they can find references to reliable sources independent of the subject. They can write the article with a neutral point of view, which the subject of the article, or a PR firm working for him, would be unable to do. - David Biddulph (talk) 11:07, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks David. This is the problem which keeps arising. I am simply trying to create an article which was my first effort. I am not working as part of a PR company but just trying to create a page. I'm not trying to edit any other pages. If I never get unblocked then the article can't be amended. Can you please inform me of what my only way forward is? Thanks for your speedy reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.133.142.171 (talk) 11:13, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
