Fair use rationale for Image:Stephen Fry QI Season 1 .png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Stephen Fry QI Season 1 .png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 18:45, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Your DVD thumbnail question on WP:MCQ edit

I asume the thumbnail is just a still frame from the movie itself, in wich case it's copyright status would be the same as the rest of the DVD, you generaly get a un-skippable text crawl when you start playing the DVD with lots of details about what you are not allowed to do with it if it's a commercial movie. If you intend to upload it tn Wikipedia it would be considered non-free unless the DVD has explictly been released under a free license. --Sherool (talk) 21:05, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi actualy the bot didn't tag the image because you didn't fill out the author section of the information template (just put in the copyright holder of the DVD there, should say somewhere on the back cover or something), but rater because it doesn't have a non-free use rationale as requred by the Wikipedia non-free content policy. Well to be super technical the bot tagged it beacuse it didn't mention the name of the article it's used in (a nessesary part of any rationale), since that's something a computer program can actualy detect, but a full rationale is needed, not just the article name. Check the Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline page for more info. --Sherool (talk) 20:04, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Monkey Dust Thumbnail.jpg} edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Monkey Dust Thumbnail.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. To ease your troubled conscience.... edit

I have made innumerable attempts to make edits on the Popeye the Sailor Man page to no evail. Oh I don't recall making any edits that would have to be reverted... I do share this computer with my sister, and often she forgets to sign in before editing. I also have an account and when I edit I usually log in first. 67.225.55.218 (talk) 22:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Camelia Elias edit

I removed the tag because the one I placed was for copyright violation. The supposedly violated content was from Amazon, and rather being copyrighted content, it was a promotional article (that can, presumably, be found on other websites). I still believe the article should be deleted - but maybe through advertising or non-notable people. As you've probably seen, I left a notice on the user's page about conflict of interest. I might leave this one a while - see how it pans out - but it's on my watchlist so I'll check back in a day or two. Booglamay (talk) 22:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reason for edit on Knightmare Frame edit

Hello there, you just recently send me a message of why I edit stuff on the Knightmare Frame article. The reason for that is I'm trying to get each bit in order, because when I look at it's recent edit it looks jumbled up & will might put readers abit off. What I'm doing is getting the models in order of their generations and apperances. The Brittanian models that I edit have to be in the order of their generations, starting with their forth-genertion and end with their seventh-generation. The same with the Japanese models, they have to appear in their order of generations. If it is like that then the readers will know what generations they are in. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Guba Logo.GIF) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Guba Logo.GIF. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. King of Spit edit

Thanks for the heads-up on King of Spit and I wish there was a speedy criterion under which I COULD delete the album, but there isn't -- albums per se are ruled out of the speedy criteria. Not to worry, though, the prod tag will run its course and if the tag is deleted, I'll have this on my watchlist and take it through AfD. Much obliged for the notification. The teen video game nerd edit

In regard to this article, I agree that it should be deleted, but it doesn't look like it has ever been the subject of an Articles for deletion discussion, so it's not eligible for speedy deletion as re-creation of a deleted article. However, it is probably eligible for speedy deletion as a non-notable person or non-notable web content. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 15:46, 8 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

A 80 edit

Hi. I've declined a speedy deletion tag you placed on this redirect, here. It appears to be a valid redirect from A 80 to A80, a disambiguation page. Additionally, there are CSD tags for redirects as well (Bad target, implausible Typo, etc) that might be more accurate for cases such as this one - though we get quite a few nonsense redirects as well, so it's a non-issue. Thanks! UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 19:36, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, didn't see that. Guess that's what I get for checking diffs instead of the history. Thanks for the quick reply, and feel free to delete this if you wish. Best, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 19:40, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

CSD of neologisms edit

I've removed CSD templates you've placed on two pages that were noted as neologisms. Neologisms are specifically listed as non-criteria for speedy deletion. May I suggest WP:PROD for these? Cheers, Oren0 (talk) 08:37, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please try to be more careful using CSD criteria correctly. Voice of The Hawkeyes doesn't meet WP:CSD#A7 because it's not a person, organization, or web content. Oren0 (talk) 09:03, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:It pays to watch logo.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:It pays to watch logo.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Stephen Fry QI Season 1 .png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Stephen Fry QI Season 1 .png. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of It Pays to Watch! edit

The article It Pays to Watch! has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article with only links to its own website and YouTube channel. Searches only returned results about the generic phrase. Does not seem to pass WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
