Orphaned non-free media (Image:Aq2a.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Aq2a.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:28, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Quake 3 Links edit

Hi. Firstly, there is no need to create sub-headings in this case. A semicolon can be used instead of to avoid bloat of external links section and table of contents. Secondly, bunch of links you have added have no encyclopedic value. According to official WP guidelines, Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files (read also External links: Links normally to be avoided). Note Doom (video game) is currently not a Featured Article as you have suggested in edit summary.[1] Visor (talk) 21:34, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inaccurate informations as well as spam, hoaxes, inappropriate formatting, etc. may have not been detected for years mainly due to Wikipedia encyclopedic nature, wiki-based editing system and continuous changes in its guidelines & manual of styles.
Links given by you provides information about fan-created content for game, but has no encyclopedic value, in opposite to "professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks" (WP:EL).
Note also: "Wikipedia articles are not mere collections of external links or Internet directories. [...] On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate." (WP:NOT#LINK) Visor (talk) 22:47, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
If general guidelines about External Links doesn't satisfy you, read also official guideline for external links in video games articles. There are more detailed informations about what sites should and what shouln't be present in the article. Visor (talk) 09:12, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
MobyGames page has been added per WP:VG/EL. MG website contains many useful additional informations such as credits, screenshots, additional covers, etc. which cannot be hosted on Wikipedia. Link to Quake3World has been deleted as it is a community website, no matter it is official or not; nice found – thanks! You can, of course, suggest an URL to DMOZ. I can't imagine high quality wiki-based website directory opened for everyone. It could be very difficult to maintain. Visor (talk) 23:08, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Final Doom Article Advice edit

It seems the problem has been resolved, isn't it? Visor (talk) 20:20, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nah, not yet. Basically the guy removed some stuff from the article that was true- at the end of TNT, it's never explained what happened to the Doom marine. So it doesn't make sense to remove the line about his fate not being revealed. Also take a look at the comment at the top of my talk page to see some of that editor's other "productive" work.
