{{help}}

Hi, someone has created a Wikipedia page for my mom, Penelope Schott. I'd like to contribute a photo of her to it (one she's approved) but according to the help pages I need to have contributed 10 edits to Wikipedia and I haven't. I also plain can't find the toolbar recommended or it doesn't appear because I'm not qualified. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks, Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, and welcome to Wikipedia. You'll be able to upload pictures in a few days. For now, I'd suggest that you read through some of the links below--they'll help you figure out how things work around here. I'd also like to point out our policy on conflict of interest. You're allowed to edit the article about your mum, but you do need to be careful about how you do it. Cheers! roux ] [x] 21:11, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've been registered for a while but haven't used Wikipedia more because maybe it's ADD but the syntax and language of the help pages are horrifically confusing to me. How precisely will I need to upload the photo? Is my number of previous edits relevant? (the help section says I need a history of 10 to upload pix)? Is the necessary toolbar the help pages refer to the editing took bar I see above this field? I read the suggested conflict of interest section. Thank you. Sorry to be a pain.

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca. You're not being a pain. Yes, you need 10 edits and 4 days here to be able to upload images. When you've passed that, just click on the left where it says 'upload' and follow the directions. roux ] [x] 21:50, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry, you aren't being a pain. Actually, you should be able to upload now. The requirement for uploading images is 4 days and 10 edits, something which you have passed. In the "toolbox section" on the left side of the screen, there should be a button that says "Upload File." If you click on that, it should have all you need. Image copyright problem with Image:Penelopesmokey.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Penelopesmokey.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:12, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Penelope Schott edit

I have added an infobox to the article incorporating your image. I think the article would be greatly improved with some additional biographical data such as date and place of birth, education, family etc. Happy to help add these details if you can provide them (with sources). Thanks. – ukexpat (talk) 13:39, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Penelopesmokey.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Penelopesmokey.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris 01:44, 28 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
