Span tag?

You recently added another image to the Superbowl halftime article, and you put it within a Span tag. I'm curious if you know what the purpose of such a span html tag would be? I have never seen one used on wikipedia, and have been wondering why the original image was in a span tag. Did you just do it because the other image had one or is there a purpose I'm not aware of? Oh, I know in HTML what they do, but I see no use for titling the span as a description of the image in that particular article with no class form. I'm going to get rid of the spans, since they do nothing in this case. Thanks TheHYPO 00:05, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Janet_Jackson_&_Justin_Timberlake's_wardrobe_malfunction.jpg

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I tagged cleanup for the page because I felt that some of the sections regarding her legal troubles and such were not structured in a manner to appear encyclopedic. Also, I believe some of the grammar and stuff are not standard English. Sorry if my actions were a bit unjustified, I'll be cleaning up the page later this week. Fat Joe

I'd really like to thank you for coming in and making something out of that Fat Joe article, I'm the one that had added the information about the albums and things. You know, when I first read the article, I distinctly remembered him having a bio page, but in my later checkings, I saw that a 50 Cent freak had deleted all of that and all was left was his beef with G-Unit. I wanted to improve the article, but didn't know anythig about the pre-2001 Fat Joe so what I did was check his album pages for his first three albums and then just typed in what I knew for the rest of it. I think it was pretty good, but I am glad now we have someone else adding to the article. If you want maybe we can work together on the article one day. But you know people will tear it apart, because when I had first added all of this information, I included the Terror Squad albums as well, because he is on almost every one of their songs and someone, that didn't add anything to the article or anything came behind me and deleted all of that information, don't you just hate that. My type of personality has always been like that and I have gotten into physical fights over people taking away from my creations. I'm just glad that in your change, you just changed you added references and sources, extra information, made it relevant and made it many pages longer. But I hate that people, who probably don't know anything about Fat Joe and Terror Squad besides Lean Back and Make It Rain will come through and delete your work, but won't add anything didn't expand the article at all just take out what they didn't want, but I'm glad that you did what you did. Thanks. The big problem with a lot of rap/hip-hop related wikipedia articles is that a lot of the people who edit them are either (1) vandals (this explains why so many of such articles are semi-protected!!!) or (2) don't cite sources. I think a lot of vandalism for the Dre article didn't get reverted, so I've had not only to add reliable sources, but also to remove libelous content...I was heartbroken to see when I was googling some of the things that popped up that were libel getting spread all throughout wikipedia mirror sites.

Anyways, thanks for your compliment, and I'll join WikiProject Hip Hop or whatever that is to participate to make such articles written better. --Andrewlp1991 (talk) 23:11, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
