Realtor.com edit

Greetings, Altamel. I am still looking for a neutral editor to assist with reviewing a proposed draft to replace the current Realtor.com article. You declined to implement the original draft I put forth back in September. However, I have made many improvements and trims to the draft since then. I have made other changes to the draft based on feedback a few editors. You've said your ability to review drafts is sporadic, and that's not a problem, but I am curious if you might have some time in the near future to take another look at the proposed draft. If not, I will try to find some WikiProject Companies members who may be able to help. Thanks for your consideration. Inkian Jason (talk) 17:24, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your input edit

I wanted to thank you again for the invaluable information you offered at a recent AN/I involving myself. The graphs that you added and the time spent in putting it all together means a lot to me. The discussion was enhanced by this contribution from you, and I truly appreciated reading it and everyone else's feedback on the matter.   Thank you very much! Clarification to MIPI Alliance requested edit edit

Thank you, Altamel, for your quick response to the requested edits. Per your message, I wanted to clarify the third request on the MIPI Alliance talk page.

When the organization was founded in 2003, "MIPI" was an acronym for "Mobile Industry Processor Interface." However, as the scope of MIPI specifications expanded, the decision was made to drop the use of Mobile Industry Processor Interface and just go by "MIPI Alliance." Hence today, MIPI is no longer an acronym.

The intent of the request was to clarify that MIPI no longer stands for Mobile Industry Processor Interface. (The second question on this FAQs page provides source material regarding the request.)

I hope this provides the needed clarification. Happy to help if more info is needed.

How to handle request edit template when edits are complete edit

Hi Altamel, thanks for your fix over on the Purdue University Global Talk page. Once an edit request is approved and implemented, do I go back into the original post and take the template element out so it gets removed from the Pending COI Edit Requests listing? Ewqwdqemdh (talk) 18:35, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Ewqwdqemdh, and thanks for asking. If you take a look at the edit screen, when the template code is {{request edit}}}}, that means it's live and in the queue, but when the template code is {{request edit|A}}, that means it has been answered and removed from the queue. So when the edit request is answered, don't remove the template, just change it to {{request edit|A}} if it has been approved, or {{request edit|D}} if declined. That's already been done on the Purdue University Global talk page, so you don't need to change anything further. Best, Altamel (talk) 19:20, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ok, that is easy. I will be able to do that going forward. Thanks for taking the time to walk me through this. Ewqwdqemdh (talk) 17:04, 16 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

After your comments on CPL Aromas edit

Hi Altamel,

Many thanks for your comments on my proposal to modify the History section of CPL Aromas page, which you rejected. I completely corrected your second point and eliminated all promotional aspects (leaving just dates and what happened then).

Regarding dates and the paragraph style - I understand. I would prefer to keep it this way since it's the same format as existing.

Please take a look at the edit request and let me know your thoughts. I appreciate the time.

Best regards, Alejandro.-

Thanks, Alejandro. However, I concur with Theroadislong that the changes are not adequate. See my additional comments on Talk:CPL Aromas. Best, Altamel (talk) 16:18, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Robert Rubin edit

Hi Altamel, I know you take some interest in COI edit requests, and so I thought I would reach out to you with a challenge I am facing on the page for former U.S. Treasury secretary Robert Rubin. The article has numerous issues: too little information about his career prior to government service; little to no mention of significant roles he played in the Clinton administration; inaccurate and confusing discussion of matters while he was Treasury secretary; and a fairly disorganized presentation of his post-government career. This summer, I was retained by one of his advisers to see what could be done, and so I developed a new draft which aims to address these issues. But I have now spent close to two months reaching out to previous editors of the page and posting in relevant wikiprojects without finding anyone willing to look into my concerns. Two editors who at least responded, a few weeks back, said they didn't want to rubber-stamp a COI draft. I am not at all insisting that my draft simply be copied over, but I am surprised I haven't found anyone at all interested in the topic. What do you think—is this something you'd be willing to take a look at? WWB Too (Talk · COI) 12:40, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi WWB Too. I prefer to stay away from edit requests for political figures, especially when the individual is as high profile as Rubin. Best of luck with finding a reviewer. Altamel (talk) 04:53, 7 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi again, Altamel. No problem at all, thanks for the response. If you have any suggestions for where I might seek assistance outside of WikiProjects Biography, Politics, and Economics, I'd be grateful for any advice. No worries if you don't. A different edit request-related question edit

Hi again, Altamel. Back today with a completely different request, and not in fact a COI request. You may recall in early 2018 when I was at AN/I in a dispute, you put together some charts showing the growth of the edit request queue over time. Those charts used to be available here. For reasons I don't understand, the charts are now broken. Anyway, what I'm really curious about is whether you could update them. Obviously, Spintendo had been answering the significant majority of these requests, and his absence has been felt. I am likely to be talking about this subject at Wikiconference North America next week, and I'm wondering if you'd be able to create a new chart before then. Cheers, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 21:22, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes, can do. There was probably an update to the chart template that invalidated the previous data format. Here are the updated charts. As you can tell by the 2018-2020 gap, Spintendo carved a valley through the mountain of edit requests. We are the worse without him, but he has earned a well-deserved rest. Compared to 2016, we are holding up better. I've noticed more reviewers other than me going through the requests, and we have not yet hit our all time high of a 194 request backlog (March 24, 2016) despite averaging a higher number of new edit requests in the same time period. At the same time, my feeling is that the complexity of the typical edit request has grown, and this has made reviewing a more frustrating venture. Altamel (talk) 06:57, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hey, thanks so much for hopping on this quickly! I really appreciate it. My own read on it is that we're a fair bit closer to the serious backlog of 2016 than the relative efficiency of the last few years. I am intrigued by what you said about the relative complexity of edits, and whether there is a way to measure that. The closest proxy I can think of would be the length of each edit request. Is that accessible and possible to chart in the same or a similar way? WWB Too (Talk · COI) 22:52, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
