Disambiguation link notification for July 13

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Skylake (microarchitecture), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Broadwell. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Upcoming changes to wikitext parsing

Hello,

There will be some changes to the way wikitext is parsed during the next few weeks. It will affect all namespaces. You can see a list of pages that may display incorrectly at Special:LintErrors. Since most of the easy problems have already been solved at the English Wikipedia, I am specifically contacting tech-savvy editors such as yourself with this one-time message, in the hope that you will be able to investigate the remaining high-priority pages during the next month.

There are approximately 10,000 articles (and many more non-article pages) with high-priority errors. The most important ones are the articles with misnested tags and table problems. Some of these involve templates, such as infoboxes, or the way the template is used in the article. In some cases, the "error" is a minor, unimportant difference in the visual appearance. In other cases, the results are undesirable. You can see a before-and-after comparison of any article by adding ?action=parsermigration-edit to the end of a link, like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Foss?action=parsermigration-edit (which shows a difference in how {{infobox ship}} is parsed).

If you are interested in helping with this project, please see Wikipedia:Linter. There are also some basic instructions (and links to even more information) at https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-ambassadors/2018-April/001836.html You can also leave a note at WT:Linter if you have questions.

Thank you for all the good things you do for the English Wikipedia. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:18, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect List of colors: A-M. Since you had some involvement with the List of colors: A-M redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Ssjhowarthisawesome (talk) 17:31, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

DAB pages with only one entry

Hi. I see that you are creating multiple disambiguation pages such as Eleventh Fleet (disambiguation) with only one entry. Per MOS:DAB, disambiguation pages with only one entry/blue link shouldn't be created. Are there more entries to these pages that you just haven't added? Bennv3771 (talk) 10:01, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

If these were created in error and there are no other entries to these dab pages, they can be nominated for speedy deletion via WP:CSD G6. Bennv3771 (talk) 10:03, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
@Bennv3771: Hi. 10, 11, and 12 are the ones that currently only have one entry, but I'm working on finding additional info for them. I was trying to keep all 12 consistent, and they have additional links that might be useful for navigation purposes (under See Also) (not my doing – just assuming they were worthwhile to the creators). I'll re-evaluate when done. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 10:12, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
I had a look around for possible entries ... you could add 11th Air Fleet (Imperial Japanese Navy) as an entry to Eleventh Fleet (disambiguation), and maybe other similar entries from List of Air Fleets of the Imperial Japanese Navy to the other numbered dab pages. Bennv3771 (talk) 10:15, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks! —[AlanM1(talk)]— 10:21, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Alkane

You made a series of edits to this article yesterday, and there was one where I was unclear what your intention was. If you look at citation 20, the new DOI# https://doi.org/10.1021/cr00097a001 links to an article whose authors don't match those listed. I was in the process of changing the title info and authors to the new info you supplied and I thought I would let you sort it out. Gene Wilson (talk) 14:15, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

I'll have a look. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 14:25, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
@Gene Wilson: Wow – nice catch. In the process of editing, I apparently accidentally deleted a big chunk of the article, from the middle of one cite to the middle of another. I restored the missing text. Thanks! —[AlanM1(talk)]— 14:38, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

46th Test Wing

Hi Alan M1.

Please take a minute and consider the talk section I just shot in the article as above.

Nice to meet you, have fun. --Filippof (talk) 21:27, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

@Filippof: Sorry, but I'm confused. It appears that my only change to that article was on July 11, fixing a typo (an → and). I don't seem to have edited your or the article's talk page. I do, however, remember seeing the change you are talking about and even looking up the translation – I just can't see where I talked, or did anything, about it   —[AlanM1(talk)]— 21:49, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

You're likely to be right, while I probably misunderstood the reason of your thanking. A specialist of Latin and/or a fan of Air Force is needed... Ad maiora. --Filippof (talk) 13:06, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Re: Editing changes on Medal of Honor - see section on the talk page for the article.

Hello AlanM1: Just a quick request --- if you have some time kindly take a look at the Talk:Medal of Honor section of the article Medal of Honor for the Wikiproject Orders and Decorations and Medals (See the Samuel Adler section on the talk page). Apparently a question has arisen as to the quality and/or suitability of references which have been cited to support the inclusion of the composer Samuel Adler (composer) as a recipient of an unusual Medal of Honor for services to Music (as opposed to combat services) as directed by General Dweight D. Eisenhower circa 1953 in post World War II Germany. Perhaps as an experienced Editor you might be able to share your expertise in order to determine whether the references which have been cited are suitable. Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance and best wishes for your continued success on Wikipedia in the fututre. Repsectfully 104.207.219.150 (talk) 15:27, 18 September 2018 (UTC)PS

@104.207.219.150: I did a little better – I asked the man himself   He's apparently been trying to correct the unfortunate mistake, which may have originated here as an uncited claim. He received "a special Citation of Excellence from the Army for forming the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra and its success in Europe between 1952 and 1961", not the Medal of Honor. He wrote about it in his autobio:
Adler, Samuel; ed. by Thym, Jürgen (2017). Building bridges with music : stories from a composer's life (illustrated ed.). Pendragon Press. ISBN 9781576473030. {{cite book}}: |last2= has generic name (help)
I'll update things as needed. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 22:44, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for October 23

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Rancho Cucamonga, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Upland and San Antonio Creek (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
