Welcome!

Ẹ k'ãsǎn, Aadebayo! Judging from your name, you're a speaker of Yorùbá. Have you ever thought about contributing to the Yorùbá Wikipedia at http://yo.wikipedia.org? It's still very much in its infancy, but if you feel like giving it a try, please contact me on my talk page. Or maybe you know other Yorubas who would be willing to write articles in Yoruba. With over 22 million speakers, Yoruba is a huge language and I keep thinking that it must be possible to get a Yoruba version of Wikipedia going. Anyway, nice to meet you, and happy editing! — mark 20:13, 1 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:AbujaAirportFroontsmall.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 17:27, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

You removed the "no license" tag from a couple of images and added "copyright released by so-and-so" instead (still failing to add a valid copyright tag by the way). Could you please provide some more information on the nature of this release. Such as a copy or link to the statement from the copyright holder to prove that the images are indeed free to use for any purpose (or whatever license terms they agreed to). As of right now the images still don't have enough informatino to be kept, so please add this information ASAP. Thanks. --Sherool (talk) 21:30, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Really great picture--do you have a larger version?

edit

I noticed that you uploaded LagosIsland.jpg; from the description, it looks like you made it as well. Do you have a larger version of this? It's a really great shot, and I'd like to nominate it for Featured status if it were larger. grendel|khan 02:13, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

419 scam

edit

Aadebayo, do not even bother removing the 419 scam mention in Lagos. We will revert that EVERY time. WhisperToMe 06:01, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I WILL BLOCK YOU IF YOU REMOVE THE SECTION AGAIN! WhisperToMe 22:33, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for trying to improve the section :)

I did remove "The contributor of this section is from a place where it is the norm for people to be killed because they are black, yet I do not see any reference to that point in his city" - Comments are to be made on talk pages.

The phrase seems to apply more to American big cities in general, while in Nigeria scamming tends to be done in specific areas in Lagos, Ibadan, and various places in the Igboland.

If you wish to talk to me, please add an entry at User talk:WhisperToMe - Click edit and type :) WhisperToMe 19:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Babatunde Fashola

edit

A tag has been placed on Babatunde Fashola, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD G11.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Jameson L. Tai 11:57, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Olusegun Mimiko

edit

A tag has been placed on Olusegun Mimiko requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, This image was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices, Thank you.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm, that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, amending the {{information}} added by a third party, and by changing the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{Media by uploader}} or {{Presumed self}} tag(s) if present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

IF you have other uploads, please consider "claiming" them in a similar manner, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transferred to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:54, 10 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
