Reply to Nomination for deletion

I'm sorry. I am new to this but I really am trying to learn. I didn't know I needed to respond and didn't know how to do so anyway. I hope I am doing it right now.

The image in question is the very first thing I did on Wikipedia. I saved the image from another site and uploaded it here. I guess I did it wrong. Is there a way to correct it? Or should I delete it and re-upload it?

I appreciate all of your advice and I am trying my best to to make corrections and improve. I might need your help. 113andathird (talk) 04:07, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Velella, just checking in with you. I feel like I have addressed every objection that has been brought up, added some content and drastically improved the sources. But no one has commented or voted on the page since. Is there something else I should be doing to save the page? 113andathird (talk) 02:42, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
It actually isn't my call since this is a decision reached by a consensus of editors. However, I have looked at all the sources as best I can. Most are sitting behind pay-walls which makes it more difficult but it is clear many are strongly affiliated and include entry ticket prices and details of concerts. In another, notability is apparently claimed from an association with a Grammy nominated artists. This doesn't work - please see WP:NOTINHERITED. I remain unconvinced that the band are notable. However, it is possible to move this to a Draft article which could buy some time to see if evidence of notability could be found. You would need to make a request on the deletion page that it be draftified to allow more time. The final decision would then be up to the closing admin whether that was acceptable. Brent Swanner photo

Regarding File:Brent Swanner Headshot 2007.jpg - did you take this photo yourself? Cullen328 (talk) 17:42, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I did not. And I realize I screwed it up when I uploaded it. It was the first thing I did here and I was a "little" overwhelmed. Is there a way to correct that? Do I need to delete it and re=upload? Thanks 113andathird (talk) 21:44, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
If you don't mind me butting in, you can simply correct the information without deleting it and re-uploading it, that's not a problem. But implicit in Cullen328's question is a more precise one: "do you own the rights to this photograph? And if not, can you prove that this is a free image?" If the image has a license incompatible with Wikipedia's, the image will have to be deleted. I can help you with that if need be. Pichpich (talk) 00:59, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Aboslultely, help and suggestions are always welcome. I appreciate you trying to help and honestly wish more would. As you can see, I am very green. But I am trying. I downloaded it from one of the discography sites. I would like to change it if Brent Swanner page survives deletion in a few hours. But I don't see that happening. 113andathird (talk) 14:40, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Done. (see Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Brent Swanner Headshot 2007.jpg) Nothing for you to do now. It'll take some time for the image to be deleted but they'll get to it eventually. Pichpich (talk) 23:21, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I knew it was coming and understand why. But now I am worried about Testify (Christian band). I believe I have responded to and corrected every objection yet the vote is still the same. Unless, I'm missing something? Is there something else I am suppose to do to save Testify?113andathird (talk) 23:29, 19 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Pichpich, I hope you have hade a chance to look at Testify (Christian band) recently. A lot of sources have been updated. Sources siting award nominees and a song in a Top 40 Chart of the genres most notable magazine (if I could find and Archive of The Singing News charts or the cited source was updated there would be a lot more Top 40 songs listed and cited.) Again, thank you for your help earlier.

Finding offline sources

edit

Hi hi. If you stick around for six months you'll be able to access the Wikipedia Library, which is a fantastic resource. So are real-world libraries! (I live in Los Angeles and with my library card I can (virtually) use six-eight databases, including Newsbank, which is where I found the Testify sources.) Also, try different search engines; Yahoo, DuckDuckGo etc -- sometimes they return results that Google doesn't. (And use Google books!) Good luck, lemme know how it goes, and I really hope you stick around. JSFarman (talk) 03:42, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for all your help. I'll look at those. I plan on sticking around.113andathird (talk) 11:48, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
