Concerns over Username

edit

Dear user,

English Wikipedia encourages its user to use usernames that is written in the Latin Alphabet, out of concerns for potential miscommunication and confusion. I hope you will take the initiative and change your username. Thank you. Arbiteroftruth (talk) 02:12, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No concerns over your username

edit

I'm sorry you've been bothered by Arbiteroftruth, who was trying to get you blocked for no reason. You don't need to change your username, and the username policy even says that it is perfectly acceptable to have a name that is not written in the Latin alphabet.

If anyone else harasses you over your Arabic name, feel free to let me know. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 02:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I never said this user is required to change his username, I said he was encouraged to change (as per the rules). Do not twist my word. 02:49, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Username

edit

I am not sure what will happen with your username once you change it. Of course, you don't have to change (I never said you have to. You were encouraged to change.) your username, so the decision is really up to you. I will respect your decision, either way. Sorry for any misunderstandings caused, and good luck editing! Solution

edit

I think I have a solution to this "problem". Your username, when transliterated into English, is Samarqandi (I assume). There is an option for you to change your signature on Wikipedia, and you can simply insert the transliterated name alongside your Arabic username. That way, both names can be used without changing any usernames. Arbiteroftruth (talk) 03:00, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is a good idea. You can do this at Special:Preferences, by the way. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 07:28, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you, I will try to do so. Samarqandi.

Agenda and Wikimeetup Karachi 2

edit

Hi, I was just working on preparing agenda to be discussed in 2nd Karachi meetup. As you know well, we mostly tried to focus on Urdu Wikipedia last time so I thought why shouldn't we discuss on Urdu Localization of MediaWiki? I see, you're very active in Urdu Wikipedia so you could help me with that. So Is it possible for you to prepare a presentation or something like that?
