The Fukuoka Subway 3000 series is a electric multiple unit operated by Fukuoka City Transportation Bureau on the Nanakuma Line in Fukuoka, Japan.
History edit
On February 3, 2005 the series has been introduced on the new opened Nanakuma Line between Tenjin-Minami and Hashimoto. The new line uses a completely different technology compared with the 1000 series and 2000 series operated on Kūkō Line and Hakozaki Line.
Design edit
The body has been designed by the German industrial designer Alexander Neumeister. Each side of the cars is equipped with 3 doors. Between the doors one big windows is implemented. The ground color of the body is white, with a small yellow-green line which runs from the front along the top of the windows. It represents the ridge of Mount Abura (located in Jōnan-ku, Sawara-ku and Minami-ku, Fukuoka)). Muromi River (located in Nishi-ku and Sawara-ku, Fukuoka) is represented by a light blue stripe along the bottom of the train. The trains use a linear motor and compared with the 2000 and 1000 series are reduced 25% in length and height and 10% in width. There is an emergency door at the right side on the end of the train.
Equipment edit
All trainsets consist of 6 cars, 4 regular cars and 2 cars with the electrical motor. The trains are equipped with ATO and can be operated unmanned, but a one-man operation is used. The trains use Insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), a variable-frequency drive system and a LED board indicates the train destination.
