User:Namcokid47/List of Jaleco games

Jaleco was a Japanese video game developer and publisher based out of Tokyo. Founded in 1974 as the Japan Leisure Company by Yoshiaki Kanazawa, Jaleco began as a producer of equipment for amusement parks. It entered the coin-operated arcade game business in 1982, changing its name to Jaleco in 1983. Jaleco became one of the first third-party game developers for the Nintendo Family Computer, and opened an American office named Jaleco USA in Wheeling, Illinois in 1986. It also owned a subsidiary named JAQNO that produced water filters and parts for aquariums. Jaleco endured financial difficulties during the mid to late-1990's, before being acquired by Hong Kong telecommunication company Pacific Century CyberWorks Limited (PCCW) in 2000. Jaleco was sold to the Hyperlink Investments Group in 2005, who established Jaleco Holding and spun-off Jaleco's video game development operations into a subsidiary of the same name. This second Jaleco company was purchased in 2009 by mobile game publisher Game Yarō, who made Jaleco their console game subsidiary. Jaleco continued producing games until 2014, when Game Yarō declared bankruptcy and was dissolved.

Jaleco is best known for its video games. It produced successful arcade games such as City Connection, Exerion, and Cisco Heat, and home console series such as Bases Loaded, Ninja JaJaMaru-kun, and Idol Janshi Suchie-Pai. Jaleco also produced arcade cabinets, UFO catcher machines, and video arcades. In Japan, Jaleco is remembered for its recognizable library of games, while in North America it was criticized for the quality of its output and business decisions. The rights to Jaleco's video games are owned by City Connection, a Japanese indie development studio that continues to use them for new games and licensing deals.
