Universe of Kingdom Hearts

edit

Hello, I've been working on the Universe of Kingdom Hearts article trying to improve it to GA. Judgesurreal777 suggested that I get your input on it since you've contributed a great deal to the similar FF articles. It is currently under peer review at the WikiProject Video games. Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:15, 30 July 2007 (UTC))

Thanks for your help, the article looks cleaner now. (Guyinblack25 talk 16:26, 4 August 2007 (UTC))

Hi, I noticed that you signed the above dispute to certify, but did you really mean to endorse? Certification is for those who have "tried and failed to resolve the dispute." Checking Ned Scott's talk page I see comments from you but usually tangential to any dispute. --Tony Sidaway 00:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Considering the bulk of different issues Cat has collected, I would be grateful if you might point out anything in his evidence you agree or disagree with specifically. There is a lot of it that I feel is completely wrong, such as his accusation of canvassing. A blanket agreement with makes me very uneasy. -- Ned Scott 02:28, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Shark attacks

No, this is something I saw on the History Channel several years ago and Jaws has been one of my favorite movies. In the real world I do Southern History. Thanks again for the copyedit. Dmoon1 17:41, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Remember this one? Passed as a GA and I put in a request for copyediting? Well it was finally answered. Quality work, even though it was a new editor. What I wanted to ask you, and I know you're busy, is if it is okay for the campaign to be in the form it is currently in (sort of a list with a little prose). Originally it was all prose but the copyeditor changed that. Should I restore it back to prose or is it better in its current form? In case I decide later to go to FA.--Clyde (talk) 17:39, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: StarCraft articles

edit

The articles are coming along, I've got six characters left to do on the overview article, and I'm trying to dig up some stuff for general development and reception of the characters (any references you may have would be appreciated), and I've got a paragraph up on the merchandise of the characters. With luck, the characters article will be done soon and moved out to mainspace. The minor characters list article is also coming along nicely since Clawed One reduced the size of most of the sectons, so a reworded and reorganised (but still incomplete) version should follow the main characters article by a few days. It be nice if I could find a list of credits for the casting of Insurrection and Retribution though. They give who did voices, but not which actor did which character.

I've figured out a way to reintegrate the factions, I'm going to stick them in short paragraphs in their respective species pages, moving all plot details into the relevant faction. This way, it'll open up the main bulk of the article to the design of the species, gameplay aspects and other out-of-universe information, and won't end up in several articles for factions full of nothing but plot detail. The locations article is coming along, I've not really changed much of it in a while but I'll get back on it after the characters are done. I've also thought about creating a list article for capital ships, similar in function to something like Weapons of Middle-earth - it'll only contain named ships (Gantrithor, Hyperion, etc) and with luck some development information as well - I'm sure there's a commentary on the creation of the ships in cinematics somewhere. It's all coming along gradually: I'm hoping to have most of these, if not all, uploaded by the end of the month. -- Sabre 13:28, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

We've finished doing the character sections. We just need to get some design and reception information for the main character article to be complete. As I said above, if you have any or know of any, they would be appreciated. -- Sabre 19:19, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
We've ran into a bit of a problem... we can't seem to find anything substantial on the development of the characters or the story other than the names of those who created the StarCraft story and two interviews with specific voice actors discussing their characters (Kerrigan & Raynor). If we can't find anything discussing the general development of characters/story, what do we do for the creation section? There's not enough in those interviews to make a decent section without copying what's already in the Raynor and Kerrigan articles, but we need something to make the article justifiable. -- Sabre 20:21, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
I think you've misunderstood me... it's not the developnment of individual characters that's causing the problem - if that were the case I'd agree with that and merge - it's the cast of characters article itself that's got the deficit. The draft article is located here: User:S@bre/Characters of StarCraft. We've got full sections on reception and merchandise, but we can't find anything relating to how they decided to create the universe (which is essentially what the characters do after all). Blizzard don't seem to have really discussed it much, or if they have it's been lost to time. -- Sabre 20:32, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I'll give that a shot tomorrow. What's your opinion on the rest of the article now it's mostly done? -- Sabre 20:47, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Pretty much licked it clean. I could add more to the reception section, but they won't say anything new or negative about the characters. I couldn't find anything by a proper source that criticised the characters and their portrayal.
As far as the minor characters go, the ones currently contained there are about 30% of all the notable minor characters, when I get round to actually sorting that article out (when the main article goes up that minor characters draft won't be immediately following it) and adding the characters from the other novels (only two are covered) and the two add-ons (Insurrection's cast is substantial) then and if then it is merged it will take the main article weeeellll outside of the Wikipedia file sizes. (For clarification on my take on a notable minor characters in SC, this rather long list at SC Wiki only has one notable minor character, Matt Horner.) Not much real world information is available, but I don't really think there's any other way to do it without clogging up other articles. -- Sabre 21:01, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
That could be done, but I'd rather get their sections up in one article first. Once they're all up, it's much easier to split them off en-masse. We'll figure something out in due course. -- Sabre 22:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I just tried merging a number of the rewritten minor characters into the main article (archived version here), but it's took the file size to 76kb (and it's still an incomplete list), which according to WP:SIZE#A_rule_of_thumb means the minor characters should be taken out. Under the old policy there was no problem: a simple yet effective list could be used. The problem arises with the new WP:FICTION policy: minor characters have borderline notablity on their own, but "encyclopedic treatment" certainly causes the article to become too long (I realise that this is aimed at separating information from the main game article, but it has to be applied to other circumstances as well). So under existing size policies, the minor characters can't be merged, but under the new WP:FICTION policy, they should be merged. Transwiki-ing (not that I want to get involved any more than I am with SC wiki) or deleting isn't really an option.

I think we need a small tweak to the new policy, maybe something along the lines that "minor characters should be contained within a characters article unless encyclopedic treatment causes the article to become too long. In these cases the minor characters should be split off into a list article and this article is treated as an extension of the parent article". So minor characters stay in the host article unless it starts to mess with WP:SIZE, in which case a new article is created that has it's notability intrinsicly linked to the notability of the article it was split from, and thereby addressing the real-wold information deficit - information about the main characters generally applies to the minor characters anyway. It just doesn't seem right that no minor characters should be included simply because there too many. -- Sabre 09:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

It's still only a temporary solution. There's a large list of the rest of the notable minor characters (characters from Insurrection, Retribution and the novels, although some of the ones Kimera said can be discarded) here, and when their integrated it's probably going to take the file size quite high. But it will take ages to do them, so there's no immediate threat. We can cross that one when we get to it. However, I want to get the locations/map design article done after the main characters one. Once that's done I can come back to the minor characters and, rewrite and merge the ones we've got. After we've redone all the other universe articles Clawed One and I can work on adding those other minor characters, but thats a long way off. -- Sabre 11:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
:I can't really do much more for the characters article. I'm going to move it out today. As I said, I'll deal with the minor characters sometime in the near future, it's on the "to do" list. Until then, I'll just link to the horrid old list. -- 09:41, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I've put the article up for "requests for assesment" over at the CVG project. Seeing as how you are a member and you're the main person I've been communicating with over the style and format of the article, your input would be appreciated.

Thank you for your support in my Request for Adminship. Unfortunately the nomination did not succeed, but please rest assured that I am still in full support of the Wikipedia project, and I'll try again in a few months! If you ever have any questions or suggestions for me, please don't hesitate to contact me. Best wishes, --Elonka 06:36, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Request for copyedit.

edit

I'm almost done with the Bob Meusel article, and I'm wondering if you could copyedit it before I place it in WP:FAC. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 00:00, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Two things

edit

One, I was wondering if you could copyedit E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Atari 2600), as it is up for FAC again and someone already suggested a copyedit.

Second, what are your thoughts on fixing Duke Nukem Forever's proseline? Kraktor denied A-class standing, and he hasn't responded to my requests for assistance. i read the Final Fantasy FA development sections, but I perceive those as nice and easy – development hasn't dragged out for ten years, or if it was delayed it's still relatively easy to cover it. How do I adquately cover the myraid of development hell while avoiding proseline? hbdragon88 04:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

ROTJ

edit

I'd say that ROTJ is done, except for a few references that need to be added. If you'd like to copyedit it, I'd really appreciate it. ;) The Filmaker 04:39, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

ROTJ has been put up for FAC by someone else (can you believe it?! Someone stole it from me! ;) jk) So if you'd like to copyedit it or simply leave your opinion: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi The Filmaker 03:41, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Actually, the same guy tried to do it before, and I stopped him to work on it a little longer. Now I've put it off for so long that someone else came along and did it again. The Filmaker 03:45, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
That's a good word for it. It turns out that the Raiders guy claims to have contributed significantly to the article, yet according to his history has not contributed beyond the removal of a vandal's deletion template. I left a message on his talk page and offered to let change his comment to avoid any confrontation. The Filmaker 03:53, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Re:FFV

edit

Ugh, I wish I *was* ready. There are still a handful of unsourced statements (such as the one about it being Sakaguchi's last directed game in the main series), the prose for the plot section still needs a bit of work, and I need to play through the PSX version or get a hold of a copy of the GBA version for true Square Enix script references (the ones I have are from a translation). But I'd still be willing to nominate it if the project wants. ~ Hibana 13:52, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

All right, I suppose I can work on a bit in the next few days and nominate it as late as Saturday. ~ Hibana 14:16, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

SD/SSD merge

edit

Looks swell. I kept thinking they looked a little thin on their own, and am glad someone thought to merge them. Thanks! --EEMeltonIV 03:58, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

See What you did to me? Seriously, do you mean a soft redirect? I didn't think you can redirect to a wikia article. CitiCat 14:35, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. CitiCat 15:27, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Star Wars

edit

I don't know. I planned on taking another long break after this article since school is about to start back. I had to do a project on The Slave Community for my summer semester class, if it had not been for that I probably would have taken a break after the shark attack article. Around a year ago, someone asked me to revise the Han Solo article, so I had been thinking about that, but there are articles in worse shape. I still need to do something for the Horror Project, as well. Thanks again for copy-editing these last two articles. Dmoon1 16:48, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

I have created an article about the whole Ghostbusters franchise as there wasn't one. I would really really really love if you would take a look at it, and help me get it into better shape in any way you can. It is a new article, it needs help, and I folded a bunch of stubby ghostbusters articles into it that are going to get reverted unless I can build up this article better :) Thanks much!
