Crackrjack is the online alias of Jack Richardson. Born in El Segundo, California, I am a veteran of the United States Navy in which I was a Torpedoman's Mate. I joined the U.S. Navy after graduating high school in 1979.
1980 to 1981 I was stationed at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Connecticut aboard the Ballistic Missile Submarine USS Will Rogers (SSBN-659)
1981 to 1982 I was stationed at the Naval Station Charleston Charleston South Carolina aboard the Destroyer USS Forrest Sherman (DD-931)
1982 to 1983 I was stationed at the Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia aboard the Destroyer Tender USS Yellowstone (AD-41)
After serving 4 years in the USN I started a career in sales. I lived and worked in Charleston, South Carolina until 1985 when I moved back to Los Angeles where I supported myself selling cars. I didn't like sales so I used the G.I. Bill to get a truckers licence.
1989 I started a career in trucking.
1992 I met and married Ann Lee and began a family in a small midwest town in Nebraska. I have 2 great kids Jason (18) and Jacob (14).
1997 I became partially disabled and had to quit driving so started selling again.
2004 I had to retire on disability and have been in treatment since.
I like history and reading about the past. I would really love to be an active member of this project and contribute as much as I can.
I think this Adoption project is a great service I want to acknowledge Lara Taylor, aka LaraLove, for adopting me and getting me in the game.
Interests edit
I volunteer for a county program that operates under a grant from Sacramento. Street Outreach Services Find the mentally disabled that are without treatment and helps them return to a normal lifestyle. In my free time I like to enjoy:
Fishing
I like freshwater fishing along the banks of the rivers here in the North Coast of California. The rivers here wind through some of the worlds oldest forests that are filled with Giant Redwoods. The Salmon here are active in the early summer and early fall seasons. Steelheads, Cutthroat Trout are abundant here. I like to do the occasional party boat trip out into the pacific for Rock Cod and Halibut.
Reading
My tastes lean towards the Action stories, Fiction and Non-fiction, Tom Clancy would have to be my top pick but I like a lot of others like him. Clive Cussler, Dale Brown, Dan Brown, Michael Crichton.
Television
I try not to watch too much tv so I limit myself to a few shows. NCIS has to be my favorite next to The Unit both on Tuesday. Survivor, The Amazing race, I use to watch all the CSI's but I got tired of all the human tragedy. I can watch pro football when in season and try to catch the last 30 laps in a NASCAR race. I am hooked on The History Channel and most of the car build shows.
Movies
I try to go at least once a week. Sometimes the quality doesn't support that schedule. I like the good action movie, mysteries and lots of comedies. I'm a sucker for the good animated shows too. The world of animation has come along way since Loony Toons.
Music
I have a long history of listening to what is now known as Classic Rock. The late 60's, 70's and early 80's mostly. I pretty much like any kind of music that matches my moods or can create one I like.
Games
I like Chess. I'm no master but love to play. I have a PS2, PSP, and of course, the PC. Age of Empires is my favorite on the PC. The GTA series and Ace Combat series on the PS2, I only use the PSP when I'm at the doctor's office. I like the Sims series but burned out on it a bit. I like the tycoons and the Civilization games. I named my blog Civilization. I like to play Spades, Yatzee, Scrabble and Dominos.
