Great article. Well sourced. Comprehensive. Definitely long enough. New enough. However, the hook is a bit bland for someone unfamiliar with his work. You could perhaps change it to something more exciting and accessible to a less Whedon-aware audience (something about his feminism or themes?). --EvanRo (talk) 19:44, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

- I originally was thinking "when Joss Whedon was asked why ...", but the text in the article doesn't quite say that. The relevant cite does, but I remember watching the speech and it was self referential. Of course, he's probably said it elsewhere as well. This way it matches the article though. - All the hooks meet length requirements. The primary hook is sourced although if you don't know Joss Whedon you probably never heard of those TV shows, either. ALT1 is not supported in the citations. ALT2 is sourced to themarysue.com, which I'm not sure is a reliable source. ALT2 could be re-worded "when asked why..., Joss Whedon replies..." The article had been recently approved as GA. The article appears to be within policy. Apart from the numerous mirrors that also display this content I don't see any evidence of close-paraphrasing. - Like Chris troutman, I'm dubious about themarysue.com site, not least of which is due to the meaning of Mary Sue. Whether it's reliable, between its owner (an ABC co-anchor of Nightline) on the plus side, and its worrying disclaimer, I'd leave to the reliable sources noticeboard to opine on. However, rather than use that source, wikiquote lists that Whedon quote and gives its source (which in turn gives its context, a speech in which he gives many answers to that one question); it was an "Equality Now Tribute Address" in 2006, and the video and transcript are here. - I'd support ALT2B with the new sourcing. I want to emphasize the primary hook is fine. I was only questioning how interesting it would be to the audience that doesn't know Joss Whedon's work. - I've used that reference on the boxquote at the beginning of the section, rather than the HuffPost ref which just had the embedded video. I've also made a slight copyedit of the re-referenced sentence, since I've removed the themarysue.com source due to reliability concerns, which lets out their interpretation of events (and ALT2, which I've struck).
