question about article grade edit

Hello! I am seeking feedback from User:MatthewVanitas, User:Gobonobo, User:Lixxx235 or others about why this article was graded as start-class. It has quality sources. While it still contains bullet points, the image and structure seem to place it at a C or B. Could you please provide some feedback as to what you felt was lacking? Would you consider upgrading the article? Thanks. Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 03:12, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Prof.Vandegrift! Generally "Start" is a pretty generic default for WP:AFC. It's not a knock on your work just that it was reviewed by a generalist who can only determine basic levels of quality. If you want someone to look over your conformance with C or B, I suggest asking at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Africa for a review. If you don't get a response there (some WikiProjects are sparsely populated), I suggest asking at WP:Teahouse. MatthewVanitas (talk) 04:55, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, MatthewVanitas!
@Prof.Vandegrift: I've re-assessed this as C-class as a member of WikiProject AfC. I didn't have time to do a through check, but it should be good. Cheers. --L235-Talk Ping when replying 05:05, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Questions and notes for Hatigges edit

Hi Hatigges. A question and some notes for you.

  • Is Odeyele Ayodeji from File:Odeyele ayodeji with nigeria soldier and a friend from east.jpg a famous person? If not, the image would best be captioned by a generic description.
  • The definition of youth as being 18–35 years old is broader than usual. I recognize that this range comes from the National Youth Policy, but some explanation as to the range's origin would help readers.
  • I've started a nomination form for this article at Template:Did you know nominations/Youth in Nigeria. It still needs a hook though and will need your attention throughout the process. One requirement is that all paragraphs are referenced, so I've marked those without sources. Let me know if you need any help. gobonobo + c 08:31, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello and thank you for your feedback. I just wanted to acknowledge your message and will work towards adding citations soon. I have to be honest, after reading about a "hook", I am still rather confused. I will spend time trying to grasp this concept soon. Hatigges (talk) 13:51, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Hatigges: A hook is going to be something like "(did you know) ... that starting in 1973 Nigerian youth were required to serve in national youth corps for a year after they graduated from university?" It must include a sourced fact from the article and should be interesting in some way. Check out the main page if you want to see the format (below the article of the day). gobonobo + c 15:36, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
