Hello User:Prof.Vandegrift,

I saw your comment on my page. I'm very excited to look at what is available and what needs to be expanded upon in Youth Led Media.

However, I did see that you asked for me to make an edit to a page and use a source. I thought I had. I went on to the Youth Studies page, and added the sentence "The majority of 15-24 year-olds in 2008 lived in developing countries." That was added with this source: " Furlong, Andy. Youth Studies: An Introduction. Routledge. p. 227. ISBN 978-0-415-56479-3."

However, the sentence I added was edited too. Did I do the assignment wrong? Did I not fully complete it?

Hey Dr. V

In response to your feedback, I looked at the list of subjects you has listed and I was thinking of either editing the american or creating a page about the child labor laws so that it extends globally. Even though the laws in the United States are strict, I know the laws globally vary where some countries still do not have any. The history of child labor also extends back quite a bit before U.S. history. I did not entirely realize the assignment last week was to link the subjects we were interested in for class, I just l. I will update my page. I am also open to other suggestions for other pages.

List of Countries

Dr. V, I read your feedback on Kkaltenheuser's talk page on his interest in the gay-straight alliance page. You mentioned that he could edit it in a way that didn't rely on a list by countries. For certain issues like this one, how do we accurately bring about the issue in a global context without going country by country? Can any section represent all the countries that an issue effects? I had always assumed that a page with a list of countries was better representative of the world. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi Professor V., I just finished working on my citations for my User page. I wasn't sure on the exact format that you were looking for, so to make it as clear as possible I included the authors, year and title of my sources. I also included the full Wikipedia citations below. Hopefully this is okay, if not I do have the citations in APA format as well. I'm not 100% sure where all of my sources will be going just yet, but I do have a general idea. The description for source placement is below the citation. Sources Update

Hello, Dr. V. I have updated my project proposal as I have decided to switch topics. Kayla and I had a great discussion today about what I can do with the new topic I am looking at researching. We feel that it is a much better topic for this course and that I can do a lot with it, and I am looking forward to getting started on it! I have updated about 5 sources on to my user page so far, but am continuing to look for more to add as the project continues. I have cited the sources I have found so far and would love for you to take a look at them and provide your feedback. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about them. Student page

Hi! Just giving you a head's up - one of the student pages for the class Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/Drake University/Global Youth Studies (Fall 2015) is up for proposed deletion, Effects of genocide on youth. The argument is that it's original research and I think that part of the issue is that it's written a bit like a student paper, which can frequently give off the impression of OR since we're more free to draw conclusions in academic papers. In any case, I'm just letting you know so that you don't count this against the student if it does get deleted. I've asked around at a few WikiProjects to see if they'd be willing to help clean it up and save it, since I think that there's a huge argument to be made for having this information on Wikipedia as an entry separate from the main genocide page. I've asked around on a few of the WikiProjects (and on the main genocide page) in the hopes that someone familiar with the topic could help lend a hand in solving some of the concerns. If this does get deleted and the student wants to have it userfied, I can help with that. Hopefully though, it won't be necessary. When a page is renamed, the redirect which is created serves to "fix" the links that had been set up to the original page location. By blanking the page you broke those links. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge!
