Supermarket boom?

The only supermarket within walking distance of the West Side Market is Dave'e (which itself is really not all that great). The nearest Tops and Giant Eagles are about 10 minutes by car. Pimlottc 18:40, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Good question. One answer is that the label "Crains Cleveland" tells the reader something about the linked-to information. It provides a clue about its trustworthiness; for example, you'd presumably want to know before you click a link whether you were going to the New York Times or the Weekly World News. But a livecam is pretty much a livecam; adding a sponsor name to it doesn't tell the reader much, and does run directly afoul of Wikipedia's promotion guidelines. Advertising vs Sponsorship Designation

Hi our Wiki editors! First, let me apoligize in advance, as I'm not intimately familiar with policies of Wiki. I've read documentation, but what I see is different that docs indicate. In this example, Crains Cleveland Business has page dedicated to West Side Market.

In the External Links section, it lists "Crains Cleveland Business: Cleveland Landmarks Page". It's obvious to me, as a reader, Crains Cleveland Business is the source, producer, and sponsor of the attached page. Listing Crains Cleveland Business does nothing to add contextual value - it only serves to further advertise their business.

I have added a link with our companies West Side Market webcam. We are the source, producer, and sponsor of the webcam. I'm not clear on why editors insist on removing some company names but permit other company names in External links and other sections of pages.

Thank you in advance ...and please add InsureCLE or remove our link.

Hi, Phil. Did you see my comment above drawing a distinction between the Crains link and your link? Also, if you'd like to remove the link, feel free to do so (although a) someone else might re-add it as a valuable contribution and b) I would think you'd want the traffic to your site no matter whether your firm's name is on the Wikipedia page.) OK- thanks for your time! Still don't completely understand when source of information elevates to level of mention of source in Wiki article, seems nothing other than subjective notoriety. I see many many wiki articles that mention privately owned entities. Perhaps those editors just aren't following the rules. In any case, won't bother you with this again. Removed links to random other markets

I removed a list of markets added by Xb2u7Zjzc32 because a) the list was at least partially redundant to one of the article's categories (Food markets in the United States) and b) there's no apparent reason why those particular ones are added. There's no need for a random list of other markets, just as there would be no reason for a list of other cities under the Cleveland article. PRRfan (talk) 14:38, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
