Proposing page move edit

NICTD has announced an official name for the West Lake Corridor – the Monon Corridor. Similarly, the route to South Bend will tentatively be named the Lakeshore Corridor. Should the pages be renamed accordingly? Pinging @Lost on Belmont and Cards84664:, seeking input from others. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 17:49, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

(Clarifying tentative renaming of the line to South Bend – pending name availability.) Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 17:54, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm reading this. I think a page move is valid, though you might wait until there's a bit more documentation published, like a press release. The website has yet to be updated. Definitely worth mentioning the Monon Corridor name in the article in any case. As for the Lakeshore Corridor, sounds like this will be the name of the South Bend service while South Shore Line will be the name of the system. Might need to split South Shore Line into two articles, unless I'm missing an existing one. QuincyMorgan (talk) 18:40, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
It depends on how the new service will be structured. The use of corridor names would be similar to the naming scheme of the IC electric branches if this is carried out as-is. Since the naming is tentative for likely both of the corridors, it would be best to wait until an official announcement is made. Cards84664 19:19, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree that we should wait until we have something more final/official. I'll admit that I found this new scheme confusing. I can't figure out why they want to rename the existing portion instead of calling it something like the "main line." The article also referred to the "[t]he existing line from Hammond to Michigan City" meaning that the portion from Michigan City to South Bend might be called something else or that the scheme is so undefined at this point that they haven't figured out what they're talking about yet.
