Eastern??? Middle East

There is a section marked "Eastern Middle East" but refers to Lebanon and Israel. Would this not be the Western Middle East? Eastern would be Iraq, Iran, etc. — al-Shimoni (talk) 12:38, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Iran heavy snow late April 2013?

Does anyone have any information about heavy snow in Iran, there are some videos around, but nothing much written about whether this weather was normal or not.Lacunae (talk) 16:46, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Correctly named?

So far this article seems to deal mostly with disrupted Northern Hemisphere spring and cold winter snaps. Should this article be broadened out to include other ongoing extremes of weather in 2013? such as Uganda floods, hottest May in 91 years in parts of Australia? Or should it be renamed to reflect the late spring/cold snaps? March 2013 European snowfalls was deleted though, so maybe expanding it is desirable? though I'm not so sure.Lacunae (talk) 18:38, 9 May 2013 (UTC) Suggest renaming article 2013 weather events so that the page can act as an area to house other events which can be developed into their own articles or not as the case may be, such as Toronto flooding, localised summer flash floods in the UK, French storms, flooding in Pyrenees earlier in the year, spring flooding in Norway. Events which are notable but probably wouldn't make a reasonable article on their own. I think "extreme" isn't really applicable to the article and events described, and I can't really think of any other qualifiers that would really work.Lacunae (talk) 16:07, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Sudden Stratospheric Warming link?

I think I recall reading that a minor SSW event happened in December with a more major event in January, leading to west to east flows in the higher atmosphere, which then weakened the jet stream and transferring to the lower atmosphere, with a possible splitting of the polar vortex. The end of march saw easterly winds from Russia all the way to Canada.Lacunae (talk) 18:38, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Couldn't we incorporate (obviously high quality) facts about records from NOAA summaries? For example:

Infobox

Morriswa requested an infobox and 62.25.109.197 kindly provided it, but does it have any meaning outside North America? Should it be renamed to make clear the region to which it applies? Each region has it's own interpretation of "extreme". Dbfirs 12:04, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

I have tagged this article as the topic was focused on extreme weather rather than general weather (which seems to be rationale for prior move). Also, WP:OWN matters here. MarioJump83 (talk) 00:31, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

Personally, as the article's creator, I'm against titling extreme weather articles as weather of foo year - there's nothing special in describing weather of a given year in general, unlike specific wikinotable extremes. But I will not revert. Brandmeister^talk 18:16, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
