Her seat is under threat: Callan Swap gives park to green council edit

The Labor government has just given Callan Park in her seat to the Leichhardt council. While the government denies that this is the reason, her seat will be under threat from the greens at the next election. cojoco (talk) 14:05, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jamie Parker edit

I removed some inappropriate info about Jamie Parker

Colourful mayor of Leichhardt Municipal Council Jamie Parker from the NSW Greens is widely tipped to be Ms Firth’s opponent at the 2011 NSW State election.[1] Before entering politics, Parker was best known as the spokesman for Naturopathica, a company which marketed weight loss preparations like FatBlaster and the so-called libido enhancer, Horny Goat Weed.[2]

What is this, Labor Party Propaganda? Anyway, if there is ever a page about him, that's where this material should go. cojoco (talk) 11:24, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Former Politician? edit

Until she publicly announces her resignation from politics, I would still believe she is still a politician. It would be more accurate to say that she is the former MP for Balmain but still a politician. 01:46, 01 March 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.96.85.89 (talk)

Unsubstaintiated statements of opinion edit

An edit by Black Regent on 24 October 2011 at 15:37 added two unsubstaintiated statements of opinion; namely that:

  1. As Minister for Women, Firth delivered an extra $2.9 million in funding for anti-domestic violence programs, as part of a broader restructuring of NSW Domestic Violence Services; and
  2. As Education Minister, Firth introduced Ethics classes into the NSW public school curriculum as a secular alternative to Scripture classes, extended the school leaving age, and implemented an anti-homophobia strategy, 'Proud Schools', to protect children against homophobic bullying in schools.

They're from Verity Firth's campaign material; I thought the page needed more substance regarding her policies as Education Minister, but I'm willing to delete them if it's against Wikipedia policy. Black Regent (talk) 09:09, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Self-promotion and indiscriminate publicity is against Wikipedia's policy. When editing articles, you should rely on reliable third-party independent sources; not from the person or organisation that the article is about. If you can find independent quotes about Firth's work from sources such as the NSW Teachers Federation, St James Ethics Centre, and organisation(s) that promotes anti-domestic violence, that would be fine as reliable sources. Failing that, would you please delete? Thanks. No offence was intended and I hope you feel ok. Jherschel (talk) 10:00, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Noticed you've already actioned. Cheers. Keep up the great work. Jherschel (talk) 10:04, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
