  • ALT1: ... that before entering politics, Usman Ja'far ran one of Indonesia's largest retail store chains?

QPQ:
Overall:   The nomination and article both look good to me. The hook is interesting and I assumed good faith with the translation. I made some changes like splitting up sections, fixing typos, etc. I assumed good faith with the Indonesian sources since I am only fluent in English and Afrikaans. Earwig checks out and no QPQ is required. One of the issues I have, is that very little is mentioned about Ja'far's time as Governor and tenure as a member of the People's Representative Council in the article. Maybe include notable events that happened during his tenure as Governor and as a member of the DPR? I also have an issue with the brief mention of a graft investigation. Why was he investigated for graft? Can you perhaps elaborate more on the investigation and make a section dedicated to that? Otherwise, the article looks great.  Lefcentreright  Discuss  00:08, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • @Lefcentreright: The investigation seemed to be relatively brief and happened before his death, and I'm icky about adding a non-verdict investigation under BLP (granted, it closed because he died, not because he was found not guilty). I cannot seem to find much notable items under his governorship (maybe there are some, but those sources are not in my reach), much less so as a councilor. I will add more in the future if I come across new sources, but for the time being I doubt I can expand those sections materially. Juxlos (talk) 07:05, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
  •   Hi, @Juxlos:. I agree with your sentiments regarding the article. I may have scrutinized the article a little bit too much. I mainly write about South African politicians and sometimes I literally have to dig like an archeologist to find sources. What is actually the most important is the hook and the hook is mentioned and cited within the article.  Lefcentreright  Discuss  14:45, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Naming conventions edit

Hey, @Juxlos, do we need to add a note about Indonesian naming conventions? Valereee (talk) 13:00, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

There are no Indonesian naming conventions. Feel free to add a note if you want. Juxlos (talk) 13:29, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Juxlos, but we're referring to him as Usman rather than as Ja'far? Normally we'd refer to John Doe as Doe unless there's a naming convention that instructs us to refer to them otherwise. Why are we calling him Usman? Valereee (talk) 22:45, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've edited to include full name each time. Not sure that's the best solution, but unless there's a naming convention that requires us to use only the given name, we need to somehow explain why we're using the given name. Valereee (talk) 22:50, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
