• I looked over the article and the citation; I see what you mean; I barely remember this edit although I remember at the time it seemed to clear up some other citation issue, but I don't feel like sifting through the article's history to see if there was a subsequent change that makes my edit unclear now. The so-called Unione Corse never existed as a mafia

While (re)writing the French article on Union Corse, I realized that the English version was not quite accurate. In reality, there has never been any mafia in Marseille, but an organized crime or what we call in French a "Milieu"

It is, as many American and French crime experts say, rather a fantasma from the American magazine Time.

It was rather a "galaxy of separated clans, allies or ennemies, that benefited from the historical contexte to flourish their business". They never infiltrated the state institutions but had some local relations to protect themselves.

The use of the name Unione Corse in the James Bond book prcedes On Her Majesty's Secret Service preceeds its use in Time magazine. There was an actual formal organization of that name founded by Corsican aristocrats. It is existed to provide relief assistance but was taken over by criminals. Yes, James Bond, this great and very accurate historical source. Is this article supposed to be a joke, or a work of fiction? As a Corsican, I find this amount of nonsense highly entertaining, but does it really belong on Wikipedia? (Like user Azerty82 said, there are many different Corsican gangs / clans operating on the island but they don't usually work together. Their hour of glory from the seventies is long past, they lost most of the drug market to other criminal organizations mostly from North Africa, and these days they spend most of their time shooting at each other while trying to control the real estate market on the island. You couldn't get them to work with each other anymore than you could get a fish to climb a tree) (And all of that is in the French papers and many books by French / Corsican journalists, it's not a big secret.
