Nazis edit

I have added material to point out Helmuth Hübener, and others. Helmuth Hübener was actually one of the youngest people executed by the Nazis for political activities, if not the very youngest. I felt it should be stated that some LDS didn't support the regime.

He was also excommunicated before his execution... (for whatever reason). Saying that the church didn't support the regime might be an overstatement... they also didn't protest it. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 15:51, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
The twelth Article of Faith states: "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." This is a fundamental belief taught in primary. I've seen the church get involed in religiously moral issues (Same gender mairage, gambling, etc.) in ballot initiatives, but as ugly as some governments may get, I've yet to see the church push rebelion against those governments.--Dmm1169 (talk) 21:16, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Membership history. edit

This site has some more membership history, e.g. numbers from 1975, 1985, 2000. Any reason not to add these to the table? https://cumorah.com/index.php?target=view_country_reports&story_id=155 ColinClark (talk) 05:01, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Good question. I don't know why whoever listed those did so without listing membership prior to that. Don't be afraid to add to it. Dmm1169 (talk) 05:06, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think they are a trustworthy site, I just have never been able to discover where the data is sourced! Not sure whether it'd meet Wiki source standards so I continue to avoid using them but again... personally I think the data is good. Jae (talk) 05:19, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I added the membership by year which I could gather as far back as 1930. I wasn't sure where to put the source but the source was from "Deseret News Church Almanac", various years. The almanac is no longer produced, but I'm able to go back to it to reference historical data. The data from either cumorah.com or Church Almanac comes from the yearly statistics the church puts out.Dmm1169 (talk) 06:12, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
As far as Wiki source standards this discussion has been handled through discussions several times before when ceating The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints membership statistics page. This is sourced as official membership data from the church. This includes all members reguardless whether they're still attending. Some areas do have polling/census data which some pages have included those in it.Dmm1169 (talk) 06:32, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the quick work! ColinClark (talk) 03:19, 14 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
