Questions that Wikipedia readers want anwered edit

I heard that Terrell's brother once assaulted a pregnant woman, and as a result she lost the baby. Is there any truth to this?

Yes, it's true. It happened in 1993 in San Diego. Terrell actually talks about it in his book, "TD: Dreams in Motion". (Viewport 17:35, 28 February 2007 (UTC))Reply

How is this statement "Unfortunately, he didn't make it in the Class of 2007. [5]" NPOV? It's not and should be removed

Reworded to say "unfortunately for him,..." You can't argue that FOR HIM, it wasn't unfortunate. (Viewport 15:53, 12 July 2007 (UTC))Reply

Not sure why you are acting like such a Terrell Davis homer, but simply stating that he was a semifinalist last year should suffice. There is no need for the unfortunately statement.

Look whoever you are, the statement will be deleted everytime you put it up......because it's not a fact. I don't think you understand the concept of NPOV.

Listen, I wrote about 75% of this article myself, which is why I have a special investment in it. I don't consider saying someone missing out on an honor as "unfortunate" as being biased. It's not like it's saying it was a "travesty" or rants about how he should have made it. If you had made significant improvements to this article in the past, or at least have been an established user, I would have given you the benefit of the doubt. But for the six plus months that statement has been up here, nobody has ever had a problem with it. I don't appreciate that some random person who doesn't even bother to get an account name, trying to force your changes just because you have a problem with Terrell Davis.(Viewport 16:11, 17 July 2007 (UTC))Reply

I don't have any problem with Terrell Davis, my problem lies with the statement. I agree with almost everything on the page, which you have contributed a considerable amount. But that statement has no value. It shows YOUR point of view, because YOU think it's unfortunate. It doesn't matter if you think it was unfortunate for him, someone could contend that it was unfortunate that Al Gore didn't win the presidency but that doesn't make it accurate. Sorry I don't have an account, but when I see something that isn't NPOV it irritates me.

I agree that in this case the adverb "unfortunately" should be removed, a wikipedia moderator should intervene and eliminate it for good. This disjuntive adverb is not only modifying the verb, it is modifying the entire clause and acting as a kind of evaluator for the rest of the sentence, thus affecting Wikipedia's NPOV policy.--190.10.76.226 (talk) 16:21, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Other discussion edit

Regarding these two additions, I think it would be better to stick to the facts and not opinions and speculation. Maybe compare Davis’ career with the first four years of Hall of Famers’ careers, and let readers draw their own conclusions. —Fleminra 02:55, 4 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

With regards to mentioning Ricky Watters in referencing Davis' Pro Football HOF nomination, citation is needed. Specifically, there are lists I have found that contradict this statement and do not include his name anywhere, e.g.:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-famesemifinalistslist&prov=ap&type=lgns

Perhaps they were talking about the "preliminary" nominations? These are nowhere near a final list or ballot, at any rate it needs to be removed or revised for accuracy with a reference. See Ricky Watters discussion page where question was originally posed.

TD: Dreams in Motion edit

Everybody, please note, I added the "Early Life" & "College" sections with information giving by Terrell Davis' own autobiography "TD: Dreams in Motion". I have no idea how to reference that in the reference section, but all that info is true, per his own words. (Viewport 22:30, 1 March 2007 (UTC))Reply

Class of article in project templates edit

GA status must be done via a requested review at Wikipedia:Good article candidates per the instructions on that page. You can't rate an article as GA if you have done a good bit of editing to the article yourself, and GA reviews must include on the talk page which good article criteria have or have not been met. --Roswell native 18:38, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Therefore, I have removed the WikiProject Biography class and I have reverted the GeorgiaUS status back to "Start" class - although this might have enough info to be a "B" class article, it really needs to use some inline refs to be a "B" in my mind for GeorgiaUS.

Fair use rationale for Image:Nfl gameday 99 box art.jpg edit

Image:Nfl gameday 99 box art.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I gave the article a B rating based on WPBIO criteria, in that the article contains a lot of information that would be useful and easy to understand by most readers, but still encompasses a few terms and fields which could be misinterpereted or misunderstood by some.
