Two country parks edit

"Why does an extension need to have its own article?"[1] Despite the names they are two country parks. Should this article be revived, along the line of the article on Sai Kung West (Wan Tsai Extension) Country Park? 14.0.236.217 (talk) 11:01, 5 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I suppose we could just add a section describing the Quarry Bay extension on the main article, then redirect to the section ―sportzpikachu my talkcontribs 03:44, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
This country park got a lot more visitors than Tai Tam. Like more than double. 203.218.155.184 (talk) 13:25, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Consensus is that the proposed target isn't the common name. No prejudice against a new proposal to move to Quarry Bay Country Park if the claim that that is the common name is supported by sources. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 03:18, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tai Tam Country Park (Quarry Bay Extension)Tai Tam (Quarry Bay Extension) Country Park – per the relevant statute.[2] 203.218.155.184 (talk) 13:13, 13 October 2021 (UTC) — Relisting.  ASUKITE 14:39, 21 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • oppose. The proposed new name is not more or less concise, just clumsier/harder to read, so not an improvement. The link source seems to have the same problem, e.g. it's the "Country Parks (Designation) (Consolidation) Order", the sort of thing only a lawyer could come up with. Not a good guide as to how to render an article title.--2A00:23C8:4583:9F01:4C2A:FA66:70BD:E08C (talk) 15:10, 21 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • Harder to read but those are the official name of the park and the proper title of the statutory instrument. Laws are for common people to read, not just lawyers. The current title is misleading since this isn't just an extension to the adjacent park. It is its own park according to the statute and for all practical purposes. 1.64.48.231 (talk) 15:57, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department uses the "Tai Tam Country Park (Quarry Bay Extension)" wording in the title of the main page about the Park [3]. Underwaterbuffalo (talk) 18:00, 22 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Either follow the statute, or stick with the common name, that is, Quarry Bay Country Park. 1.64.48.231 (talk) 15:55, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Should this be resubmitted for renaming to Quarry Bay Country Park? Yes that's a lot easier to read and that's the common name. 203.218.155.184 (talk) 11:15, 7 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Too late to notice this from WP:WPHK, but probably a ngram would know the common name of the park is " Quarry Bay Country Park" and we usually use common name to fit the WP:CRITERIA. Matthew hk (talk) 00:24, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@203.218.155.184: you can re-open WP:RM with legit evidence such as WP:RS. But WP:RM usually consider Google Ngram to prove one name is more popular than other. But in some case the article title just made up due to wiki policy e.g. this. The only thing to consider may be all other Hong Kong Country Park use Official name (probably Official name is the common name of those park too) but if using Quarry Bay Country Park then it will be the outlier that use WP:Commonname but not official name. Thanks. 203.218.155.184 (talk) 08:43, 21 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
But in some case the article title just made up due to wiki policy e.g. this. What about the en masse renaming of Foo Line and Foo Station of the MTR to lowercase l and s? 203.218.155.184 (talk) 10:26, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I hate the lower cap thing. But it was a naming convention formed in WP:VP. Matthew hk (talk) 15:15, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
