On notability edit

Well how do you define notability for software? A google search on "by subtext" (a phrase on the default skins) returns around 17,500 hits. The stats show around 50 downloads a day. The project has also built on from the now defunct .Text which spawned [Community Server] which does not appear to have encurred an editors wrath.

WP:NOTE and WP:SOFTWARE are good starting points. Regards, CiaranG 18:36, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

CiaranG, thanks for the reply. I updated the article to add weight to its notability after reading WP:NOTE. Afterwards I read WP:SOFTWARE and realized that as founder of the Subtext project, I should not be the one to update the article. I leave it to your discretion. A blogging engine is an increasingly useful tool for a wide variety of people. I find this article very relevant. In the modern software world there are really only two software platforms: Java/LAMP and Microsoft (.Net, IIS, SQL Server). For people or companies familiar with the Microsoft platform Subtext appears to be the best option. For Java/LAMP WordPress is clearly the best option and the best overall option.

Over the past twelve months I feel many software related Wikipedia articles have been degraded. I feel that a large reason for this is a general anti-Microsoft attitude. I hope this small article is not another victim. JimisDose 21:56, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
