Replace images?

I would like to replace the existing images with 2-3 steel engravings by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. They have been scanned at 2400dpi and demonstrate the process/artistic skill better than the current article images. Thanks--Godot13 (talk) 07:04, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Johnbod- Have a look at both vignette sections. The portraits (limited in scope) are 800dpi, the vignettes are 2400dpi, ranging from (roughly) 1860 to 1900. Thanks--Godot13 (talk) 01:13, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Johnbod- I can see from your user page that you know a thing or two about art... I am conservatively cropping the images further. How many do you think would be appropriate? They represent 7 of the 8 paintings hanging in the United States Capitol rotunda and were used on the backs of the first issue of U.S. National Bank Notes. I want to try and find the right article to create a table of the seven images (but I readily admit this article may not be the appropriate one). Otherwise, which one or two do you find to be the best examples of engraving?--Godot13 (talk) 22:32, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

All fairly comparable in quality I think, but Columbus & Pocahontas provide a contrast of light & dark backgrounds & more interesting costumes than others. For a table, a banknote article would be most appropriate I think. Johnbod (talk) 22:38, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
