If we put these two articles together, perhaps one comprehensive useful one could be born. [[Judgesurreal777 04:38, 27 February 2006 (UTC)]]Reply

Clean-up of Petersburg group edit

I've attempted a clean up of the language. There's one thing that I'm not sure about. Were the illusrations of E.T.A Hoffman and Crime and Punishment, or were they based on Hoffman's illustrations of Crime and Punishment (Hoffman was an artist as well as a writer).--Ethicoaestheticist 15:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't know if the problem from 2007 comment resolved or not, but my answer is that E.T.A. Hoffman can't illustrate the Crime and Punishment by F. Dostoyevsky, even though he was an artist as well as a writer, since Hoffman died in 1822, but novel was published in 1866.

Fair use rationale for Image:Non-Conformist Exhibition 1964 Hermitage-Museum.jpg edit

Image:Non-Conformist Exhibition 1964 Hermitage-Museum.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I've added a fair-use rationale. Hopefully that will be enough.--Ethicoaestheticist 18:24, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

I think there is plenty of sources here to improve sourcing and writing of this page and create a page about Osip Sidlin... My very best wishes (talk) 03:26, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Page move edit

Is there a reason the page is named Soviet Nonconformist Art, not Soviet nonconformist art. Any objections to a move? —[AlanM1(talk)]— 12:45, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sadly lacking in reliable sources edit

This article has been extensively edited by a connected user, many sections are completely unsourced, promotional and contain original research. All content requires a reliable source, if none can be found then material will be removed. Theroadislong (talk) 13:05, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

My edits have been attacked once again by conflicted editor User:Toreeva on her talk page, since I cannot edit her talk page the explanation is here for her...
  • This edit [1] removed blatant self promotion by Toreeva, adding a link to her personal website.
  • This edit [2] removed the statement "The students of the "School of Sidlin" art group of 70th, can be seen in St. Petersburg encyclopedia website, Russia" it is not required. I also removed "Natalia Toreeva (b. 1941)" which was sourced to a forum which is not a reliable source.
  • This edit [3] removed a Russian Wikipedia link not required and added a reliable source.

Other edits have been made to address the paucity of reliable sources and to remove unsourced content. Theroadislong (talk) 18:30, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I have edited further to remove multiple pointless birth and death dates for readability, and removed various Russian Wikipedia links for subjects that have English Wikipedia articles.Theroadislong (talk) 18:28, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Theroadislong (talk), Please reinstate the citation http://www.encspb.ru/object/2855704621?lc=ru, where the members of "School of Sidlin" art group are included in the St. Petersburg encyclopedia, Russia. It is needed not for promotion but for the fact, because the names of "Natalia Toreeva (ru:Н. Тореева) and Vasily Yuzko (ru:В. Юзько) in the "School of Sidlin" section were I hope not purposely removed by you.Toreeva (talk) 02:45, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it is required, we do not need long lists of artists involved in each group, only those notable enough for articles should be mentioned, and then only if the source is in-depth about them. A mere list or passing mention does not confer any notability. The Sidlin group section is particularly poorly sourced and requires trimming back to what is actually notable unless in-depth reliable sources can be found.Theroadislong (talk) 09:03, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • It is definitely now that removing the citation that it is a good reliable source and these 2 names (Natalia Toreeva and V. Yuzko) were purposely removed without the knowledge of Russian lang., without the knowledge of Soviet Art, and without the good faith. No more questions and further discussions are needed.Toreeva (talk) 12:47, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
You have repeatedly proclaimed that you have stopped editing Wikipedia, but you continue to attack my good faith edits. Please stop. Theroadislong (talk) 13:59, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adding your own name to an article is promotional. Theroadislong (talk) 18:55, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • It is not true. It shows that you can NOT read Russian lang. so you are not qualified editor to edit this article. In all 4 citations there you can see in Russian 2 names who represented "School of Sidlin": "...А. Басиным и Наталии Тореевой.." Hope you will see it, or click to translate to English.Toreeva (talk) 19:20, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK... so the article just becomes a gigantic list of non notable (no Wikipedia article) Russian artists. Theroadislong (talk) 19:44, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
It is your opinion, which is strange to hear it from the person with the Art degree. It was important for the Art movement, even though it was diff. between Moscow and Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). But if you see the bigger picture, the art movement was the starting point of revolution and collapse of Soviet Union (in 1991). But it is outside of the article. And it is too bad that you deleted the emigration of the artists, and also their life cycle (born and death). Needed for scholars. But it is OK. They have diff. places for info.Toreeva (talk) 20:12, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
