I'm not sure this needs a separate article. It has received coverage, but all this is, is a fan effort to recreate the the game in high definition. There's nothing but a bunch of small announcements, and a gameplay section completely redundant to the Sonic 2 article. I think this would be better served as a small subsection on the Sonic 2 article somewhere. Sergecross73 msg me 18:37, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge - per my nom. Sergecross73 msg me 20:37, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Agreed. All of the necessary info can be rewritten into a single paragraph and added to the Sonic 2 article. Just because something has references, doesn't mean it deserves its own article. Maybe something like: In 2008, an unofficial, high-definition remake was announced, which included development members who would later work on Sonic Mania. In 2012, it was discovered that a keylogger was included with an alpha build of the game, which led to the project being discontinued due to the controversy. In 2014, the project was restarted under a new development team, lead by Vincent Mastrorosato. The final version is planned to feature additional stages and the option to play levels as Knuckles the Echidna. Is there anything major missing? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:43, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Support merge at this time There is potential this could be a notable fan project, but unlike mainstream published games which nearly always are released, fan projects are tricky beasts that may die out if people lose interest, or if they are C&Ded. Mention at the S2 page is completely appropriate given that it has been covered. --MASEM (t) 19:02, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Neutral. While I'd agree at this time, a quick search in the CSE shows plenty of dedicated coverage to the project. This could quite possibly end up being like AM2R (which is a GA). JOEBRO64 19:10, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Move to draft. As I said above, this could end up being the next AM2R, so we should move it to draft and expand before moving when it becomes notable. JOEBRO64 19:13, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Is there a recommended time for articles to remain in draftspace? That's a fair comparison to AM2R, but even that article wasn't created until the game was released and was being discussed critically and had some dev interviews published. I don't think we will get that same level of meaty coverage for S2HD until it releases, which if you've been following this game for the last decade, may be never. Also could merge to List of unofficial Sonic media. TarkusABtalk 20:24, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
If drafts are made in the literal draft space, they get tagged for deletion per WP:G13 if no edits are made to it in 6 months. If put in a userspace draft (ie if I created it at User:Sergecross73/Sonic the Hedgehog 2 HD or something) then it can sit there for forever basically. I agree with you that I doubt its ever going to have enough to warrant a separate article - it'll like sit like this for years, and then get a bunch more extremely short articles either commenting on 1) "it released, and yay, its in HD!" or 2) "it got cancelled/shut down, and boo, I woulda played that!" type coverage - neither likely still to elevate out of stub status. I don't necessarily oppose moving it to draft space, other than the fact, it'll likely be a recurring issue if editors get overzealous and try to move it into article space again and again - a likely scenario I've come across when things are sent to draft. That being said, regardless of consensus, I don't think there's anything preventing JoeBro from making a userspace draft, so there's not much of an argument if the two main options are "merge" and "draft". I'd personally cover this in the Sonic fangames article, as that's what this is. (Indeed, it's already there: List of unofficial Sonic media#Video games. Expand and split summary style.) I also think it helps to distinguish this unofficial effort from what could be construed as an official remake by not covering its unofficial development in the official game's article. Could this article remain a stub? Sure, but that ...doesn't mean it's best presented that way. winky face (not watching, please {{ping}}) czar 21:09, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I stand by that decision - it survived an AFD that had 8 keep votes, not 8 merge votes, and has a bizarre gameplay concept worth explaining (unlike this, which is "Sonic 2in HD".) Sergecross73 msg me 22:31, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge - Can be easily covered in the parent article. TheDeviantPro (talk) 01:28, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge - Agree with the above, not too difficult to insert in the parent article. Epicandrew1220 (talk) 17:19, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
