Proposed Deletion edit

I'm not entirely sure that I understand what's happening here. Are proposing the deletion of the disambiguation page or the Shea Stadium (Bradley University) article? Either way, I think a deletion is a mistake. The venue itself meets notability as the home facility for an NCAA Division I soccer team and is a permanent structure, unlike certain other facilities which might be a field, marked with the appropriate boundaries, goals, and temporary bleachers. As far as the disambiguation page, I recognize that the typical Wikipedia user who searches for "Shea Stadium" is going to be searching for the home stadium of the New York Mets. However, if the disambiguation page is deleted, how would a user search for the venue described in the Shea Stadium (Bradley University) article? I feel that if this disambiguation page is deleted, then one could make a similiar argument for the deletion of probably half of the rest of the disambiguation pages in the encyclopedia.

But, that's just my two cents on the subject, as a relatively inexperienced Wikipedia editor, to this point. Thanks! --InDeBiz1 (talk) 22:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shea Stadium (Peoria, Illinois) (Shea Stadium (Bradley University)) is not being deleted; I've combined a couple articles into that one. The proposal is to delete the "disambiguation" page because the only way a user is going to look for Peoria's Shea Stadium by name would probably be to find the Mets Shea Stadium article then click the link at the top of the page. Disambiguation pages make sense when there are multiple meanings; however, the likelihood of any third meaning is negligible. In other words, the only place a disambiguation page would be linked would be from the top of the Mets Shea Stadium article, and that article already has that single link to Shea Stadium (Peoria, Illinois), so (in my opinion?) there is no need for the disambiguation page because there will probably never be any more meanings that the Mets Shea Stadium will need to link to. (Did all that make sense? It's 1:30am and I'm getting a little fuzzy...) --Closeapple (talk) 07:25, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ahhh, gotcha now. I have no objections, then. --InDeBiz1 (talk) 07:44, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
And now, as if on cue, someone has found 2 more meanings for "Shea Stadium"! Guess I was wrong — it needs a disambiguation page after all! --Closeapple (talk) 03:02, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
