Technically Not An Orphan, But...

edit

This is a couple of sentences, all without any references. What should be done? Duende-Poetry (talk) 19:14, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Overview of updates

edit
  • Separated first sentence into two sentences
  • Moved some text from old mythology section to incorporate into the lead section, with some variations
  • Moved text about origin of name from old mythology section into etymology section, with some variation to incorporate into other text.
  • Moved two images (re-uploaded) into different sections and added captions
  • Moved text about fan from old mythology section into physical appearance subsection, with variation
  • Moved text about woodblocks to subsection about visual arts, with some variations
  • Added new sections, text, and media
  • There was no in-line citation in the previous article and only had a reference section with one entry. I used MLA parenthetical referencing for my edits to this article, and so I changed the reference section to align with that style of in-line citation. The old reference entry is still included, but in MLA format
  • Changed commons inline link to a commons box link, to go in external links section
  • Added an adapted navbox about legendary creatures
  • Removed stub template from article
  • Added two section headings and under construction templates

  • Added portrayal subsection
"Also in some Japanese villages, parents spread the myth that he eats little boys to stop them going into the forests at night. [citation needed]"
  • The above is from the previous article. I have removed it for now because it has been tagged as uncited for a long time and my sources do not mention the tengu eating little boys, only abducting them. I have instead reworded and included information on the general idea of the myth or folk belief about tengu abductions. I'll keep looking for a source for this claim but I decided to remove it for now, I hope this is okay and of course welcome any input on it. Another issue is that I'm trying to summarise the general idea of tengu abductions in order to tie it to Sōjōbō specifically, and perhaps this claim is less relevant to Sōjōbō than abductions.
