Noyori-san spoke on NHK news on 5 May regarding the Fukushima DaiIchi nuclear crisis and offered a number of excellent points regarding the distinction between science and technology, the failure of science in this instance, and suggested strongly that technology - the application of science - has in the case of nuclear energy gone beyond the ability of science to properly manage. He called nuclear energy a "bridge" technology which he suggested, coupled with changes in societal lifestyle and expectations, lead to an emphasis upon renewable energy, including solar.

I hope that someone who has a better command of Japanese language might include in this article a synopsis of Noyori-san's statements on this topic. I think they represent a significant contribution to the ongoing conversation regarding Japan's energy policy.

It is also of interest that no such conversation has taken place in the United States. In essence the US government has said, don't worry, be happy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by K1mgy (talk • contribs) 14:38, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
