Source's reliability is questionable. This source is the only one that has mentioned a major offensive by the rebels. None of the highly reliable sources likes Reuters, BBC, AFP, AP, Guardian, Telegraph or even CNN have made mention of a major rebel offensive. In fact, most are reporting of the Army still being the one who is on the offensive, with Barzeh, Jobar and Qaboun being reported by the opposition SOHR to be under continues attack by the military. Not to mention that this dubious source is citing a youtube video as proof of this rebel offensive, which in itself is not allowed on Wikipedia. EkoGraf (talk) 21:37, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

- Control of this highway is important to note because it can cut both Ghoutas (eastern and western). It should also be noted that the two Ghoutas are now completely surrounded by the army.

You shoudl edit the map and move the red line southwards from Yalda it should end up at the end of Sayiddah Zaynab which was never lost from government hands and the south of this town you have Az-Zyabeyeh which the government forces advanced into but haven't taken control so you should put a red arrow in the direction of this town and mark it as contested that's the only mistake i found on this map.Add this stuff and you have the perfect picture of the Rif Dimashq front.Daki122 (talk) 12:28, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

The army also entered in Irbin, Ain Tarma, Harasta and Zamalka as can be seen in the "Continued fighting." The army also progress in Al-Murj area taking several cities ("Renewed push Army"). Here is the map of the industrial area and the highway which are in government hands and are lunching pad for army atacks on Irbeen Harasta Jobar and the rest of Qaboun.I think its a useful info you should take in mind.

And one more thing you should remove the green teritory and the contested one that is near Qrua al Assad.The mountain over damascus is hevely controled by the government and host the Jamraya research centre(the one you put contested) it host the 4th Division and all Republican guards brigades along with the 14th Special forces Division. The only town still controled by rebels near the border with Lebanon in Damascus is Al-Zabadani which is under army sige and is further to the north-west in the direction of Al-TallDaki122 (talk) 06:46, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Yeah I'm not so sure. I had also figured that Northern Damascus would be under strong government control, due to the presence of several army and Republican Guard bases (not to mention the close proximity to the Presidential palace!), and such a belief is supported by maps such as that available at Gulf News. However I've seen other maps, such as that at the British Channel 4 News, and also at both pro-Government and pro-Opposition blogs placing it under opposition control. Interestingly as well that map that ended up on the internet earlier this year (the one allegedly taken from a dead soldier from the Republican Guard) showed parts North of Damascus under opposition control, although it would be possible for either the map to be a fake or for the Syrian Government to have recaptured such areas in the recent offensive. There's quite a few villages that follow the valley floor inbetween the hills behind Damascus. These towns eventually link up with al-Zabadani. Just found another map of the Institute for the Study of War that claims the opposition controls up to Ashrafiyyat Alwadi. Then Jamraya seems to be contested/where the frontline is. I'll change the map and label it to show the Research Facility/Special Forces HQ under government control (because if it weren't I'm sure we would have heard of it), but I won't change the map to show Jamraya under full government control. Jamraya might have been under full government control back in May when the Aviationist made the post, but the ISW map and others says that by August it's contested. Yeah I just saw that. Well if that's the most recent map then I'll update the current version. Other differences I noticed are that the rebels seem to be comprising two seperate pockets to the south of Damascus, as opposed to the one continuous pocket in the current map. This pocket also seems to perhaps be a bit higher/more central (it's above the Sayyidah Zaynab shrine instead of under it). Also it looks like government forces are in control of a strip of land between Barzeh, Qaboun, and Jobar and the rest of the larger opposition pocket in Eastern Ghouta. Thoughts? In the southern zone, it seems that Daraya is completely surrounded so yes there are two small pockets rebels. Well in the current map the frontline is south of the shrine, whereas in the fb map the frontline is north of the shrine, and kind of centers on the Yarmouk/Hajar al-Aswad/Yalda/Agra area. The map is made by a Chronicle which supports the opposition, moreover, can be considered as a source? During the Battle of al-Quseir, the Chronicle said that the army had not retake the city, like when the army retake Khalidiya in Hms, so I do not know if we can trust him, he would find a other source.
