Roy Dunlop → Ray Dunlop – overwhelming majority of contemporary sources use Ray not Roy. Search query for years 1920-1960 returns [1.560 results] for "tennis and Ray" vs [50 results] for "tennis and Roy". But there is "Ray Dunlop" page already, which is the 'Redirect page'... The spelling I've seen both ways but in looking at old Australian newspapers i do see more Rays than Roys. So I agree. Fyunck(click) (talk) 05:14, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

@Fyunck(click): Hi. If you wish to "improve" this page you could analyze those articles: [1] and [2] mentions his approximate age - that would mean 1904 was his year of birth. [3] gives his year of death hint. Full name may be found here [4] (but only here...) <this is for double checking: [5]>. Actually his year of birth would be 1904-1905. He was just over 21 in March of 1926, and the other article said he would be over-age to play juniors in 1926. Fyunck(click) (talk) 22:26, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

Was struggling to find any basic bio info (date/place birth/death). Did establish that he was alive (and presumably happy) in September 1971.--Wolbo (talk) 22:47, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

I did it at the library, but no problem. Make sure your search at newspapers.com is under "Dunlop, Charles Ray". It's the first entry for The Age. His dad and mom, Charles and Ellen are also listed to confirm it. I could find no birth-date for him. Someone with paid access to the Australian Census might be able to help with that. The image you uploaded is actually Ellsworth Vines, Dunlop is on the right of the original image. Although the colored version looks good I prefer the original black and white version as it is more authentic but if you do use a colorized version you need to check on Wikimedia Commons if that should be listed as a derivative work of the original. Not sure what the exact rules on that are--Wolbo (talk) 23:21, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

I had read it left to right as that is what is the norm. Maybe not down under. I just moved the other picture up. I almost always prefer a color version since young readers have trouble comprehending b&w. I've never had an issue with wikimedia commons and colorized photos, especially sine this one is in public domain and out of copyright. Fyunck(click) (talk) 23:51, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

You could request a file rename to Ellsworth Vines and then use the image in Vines' infobox. The source mentions ca. 1930 as the date but it is actually from 1932, see Dunlop's jacket. Most likely November 1932 at the NSW Championships (Vines defeated Dunlop in five sets) or perhaps the USA - NSW team match earlier that month.--Wolbo (talk) 00:15, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
