The song doesn't end on the 'tonic chord'

In the interests of accuracy, Radio Free Europe (which I have been playing since my teens) does not end on the 'tonic chord' (which would be E) but on the IV or subdominant. I see that this has been sourced, but if so the source got it wrong. It's also not so wildly unusual for an REM song to end on the subdominant - off the top of my head, from the Murmur album alone both 'Pilgrimage' and 'Moral Kiosk' end on the subdominant. (At the risk of being over-pedantic, Moral Kiosk strictly speaking ends on the relative subdominant.) In any case, I have cut the line about the song ending on the tonic. Genre

Thanks to Koavf (talk · contribs) for maintaining the genre tag against misguided attempts to call this song punk rock. No credible source could call it punk. Jangle pop, maybe, by association with Mitch Easter. Lwarrenwiki (talk) 14:32, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
