This article was deleted as the result of deletion debates here and here. The case for deletion of this article is grossly incorrect (read it here and here).

1. The case states that PotterCast never reached #1 on iTunes; this is incorrect. It reached #1, actually, faster than MuggleCast did, and the site posted a screenshot of such when it occurred (nevermind we fans saw it on our own iTunes as well).

2. "Mugglecast occurs one a week; the next Pottercast is scheduled for Summer 2006" - what? PotterCast has come out every week without fail since it debuted last August - even MuggleCast took two vacation weeks. Not only that, they have put out numerous extra editions, so that they produced something like 65 episodes in a year (see their archives page on PotterCast.com if you're interested) as opposed to MuggleCast, who produced far fewer. This is easily checkable and provable - someone saying otherwise led to this article's deletion? Couldn't someone look into it first? That's hardly fair.

3. On this page here, this conversation occurs:

"Yes, the page has very little info, but it can be expanded into an article like the Mugglecast one. -Hoekenheef 22:16, 22 November 2005 (UTC)"

"My nomination has nothing to do with content. MuggleCast has notability as it gained a number one rating on iTunes podcast listings. PotterCast is not notable. --WAvegetarian 22:43, 22 November 2005 (UTC)"

"Comment - Ah I misunderstood your stance. Seeing as that is the case of the matter I change my vote. -Hoekenheef 22:59, 22 November 2005 (UTC)"

So, not only is his claim based in error, someone else has changed their vote based on such a claim. And even though PotterCast DID, in fact, reach #1 on the iTunes music store, since when is that the benchmark of notability? There are tons of notable podcasts who have done no such things, and I'm sure a search on Wikipedia would produce some of them. In addition, this comment:

"In the Harry Potter pod world, there is MuggleCast and "everyone else."

- makes me sure the users here had an axe to grind. This is a wholly incorrect statement. PotterCast is a MUCH more notable podcast in that it actually brings content INTO the Potterverse; MuggleCast is simply discussion. PotterCast has brought on the editors of the Harry Potter books (Arthur Levine, Cheryl Klein), ALL the directors of the first four HP movies, Bonnie Wright, Matt Lewis, Jamie Waylett - countless other notables that bring news and info - and not just the hosts opinion - to the podcasts themselves. The news that has appeared solely on their podcast has been reported ON MuggleCast, and we're calling PotterCast insubstantial in comparison? They broke a worldwide story open by talking to M. Night Shyamalan about his statements regarding directing a Potter film - this is a show that is less notable than one that consists ENTIRELY of theory and discussion? MuggleCast has had one cast interview: Warwick Davis. Good as that interview was, it is absolutely nothing to the long history of polished and notable interviews PotterCast has presented. They actually add objective news and information to the Potter world, AND they do all the theory and discussion so touted on MuggleCast. They also do song contests, impression contests, DVD commentaries...the levels of variation on PotterCast are huge. Yes, I am a fan of this show, but yes, I am completely appalled that Wikipedia has taken action based on who are claerly MuggleCast fans saying false things about PotterCast to make it seem less than it is. We have a whole article about MuggleCast - highlighting of all things, SPY ON SPARTZ, clearly a contribution to society as in we find out where Emerson Spartz is at any given minute - yet PotterCast's tremendous interviews and work get condensed to a line and relegated to simply part of The Leaky Cauldron's page.

MuggleCast has its own page. As such, PotterCast ABSOLUTELY deserves one. This should be expanded to at LEAST the length and quality of the MuggleCast one.

There doesn't appear to be much discussion concerning this article, so I just went ahead and threw in two things: a mention about the modcast, and I update the section on the LeakyMug. SunlightDust 02:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm glad this was recreated; I always thought the original deletion was unjust. PotterCast and MuggleCast are friendly with one another, and shouldn't be treated as vicious rivals. *Dan T.* 17:36, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

The PodCast WikiProject

This is quite a professional podcast (can't anyone understand that MuggleCast and PotterCast are equally professional and quite friendly) and is quite positively reputable in the podcast world. They deserve to be under the support of and under the scope of WikiProject PodCasting--[[User:Yossi842| Yossi842]] 01:39, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Segments

Spent several hours looking at other podcast pages and moving around the information on this webpage. It's not perfect yet, but hopefully the addition of segments will make it match better what is found elsewhere on Wikipedia. Hopefully this article on PotterCast no longer reads like a fansite, but I'll leave that up to others to decide. I have removed the header saying this page needs work, but please put it back in if you feel it is still needed -- sewtf3 13:14, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Live Shows

PotterCast will be on tour June and July 2007, part of the time with wizard rock group Harry and the Potters, but usually at Borders Bookstores. May just list starting and ending dates of tour with states/countries that will be visited. Perhaps a link to the full-list as seen on the PotterCast website. The live shows held in conjunction with the Harry Potter Movie 5 premieres, and the Book 7 release should probably get their own line. They will supposedly be posting audio, video, and blogs from the road via a MySpace page as they tour and talk to people around the US, Canada, and the UK in anticipation of the new Harry Potter movie and book. May want to add a link to that MySpace under the links section -- sewtf3 7:37, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Awards

At Podcast Alley, consistently in the top 15 for late September 2005 and early 2006. Consistent rankings in the top 5 in second half of 2006 and early 2007. April 2007 dropped down to about 13, so may need to change wording of ranking at Podcast Alley to state "top 15" instead of "top 10" -- sewtf3 7:37, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

At Podcast Alley, the number of listener "votes" PotterCast received thus far for July 2007 places it at a rank of 28. Podcast Alley is just one of many websites that allow listeners to leave comments about the podcasts they listen to. Technically there is not really voting for one podcast over another, and "voting" is merely done by entering an email address into a window and hitting submit, meaning that listeners can vote each month for every podcast that they listen to using every email address that they own. PotterCast has not of late been telling people to vote for them at Podcast Alley, so it's not surprising that their rank is no longer in the top 10 as it was for most of the year 2006. May want to remove the ranking and leave this section for actual awards and awards nominations. -- sewtf3 1:43, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

The podcast is dead, or appears to be

I have seen no updates to this podcast since at least October of last year, therefore the statement that it is updated monthly is manifestly untrue. No authority can be found, however, that the podcast is definitively dead, yet it certainly appears to be.
