Claims

It's mentioned that MLS teams cannot play in a stadium that also houses a baseball team. A reference is needed as, currently, the Kansas City Wizards play in a baseball stadium - Community Park. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nobude (talk • contribs) 04:11, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

And, similarly, DC United shared RFK Stadium with the Washington Nationals between 2005 and 2008. And that was a Major League Baseball team, too. The current line is a false assertion that I'm going to remove. oknazevad (talk) 10:55, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Name

Shouldn't the name be, "Portland Beavers Ballpark" because we don't know where it will be (maybe in Beaverton). See, Omaha Royals Ballpark. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 22:30, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Since there is increasing doubt that any stadium will be built in the Portland area at all, I'd be inclined to merge this whole article into the Portland Beavers article until some actual plans appear. --Esprqii (talk) 18:15, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure about the Beavers article, maybe PGE Park. I feel that there is a need for this article because it is almost certain that it will be built, and for plans, there are many. Just no location has been picked out yet. I would still change the title, because even if they are in an outlying city, Portland will probably sill be their name, and it's the name now. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 22:16, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

You're probably right about the name change, but since Wikipedia not a crystal ball, I think deletion of this article is more appropriate. It can always be recreated if something firm really does come up. There aren't any firm plans at all that I'm aware of, and I've been following the saga fairly closely. However, I do think a section in the Beavers article that describes how they no longer have a home in PGE Park after 2010 that incorporates this article would be appropriate. It's pretty clear at this point that they won't be playing in Portland in 2011. --Esprqii (talk) 22:22, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Baseball parks have been built in much less time, especially Minor league parks, not to mention a park with only 10,000 seats. I think the probability of the matter is 50/50. I don't think that the owner would keep a failing club in Portland or the Pacific Coast League. I believe your assertion of the park not being built by 2011 is wrong because, like in 2001, they may just play their first few games at a different park in the Northwest (Gesa Stadium in 2001) until the park is completed. My point is, if there was no real plan here, It would be addressed by the PCL and he would have sold the franchise by now. As the deletion issue goes, there is no need to delete the page, redirect it (if this discussion points that way) to the article where it is merged. --Brian Halvorsen (talk) 22:51, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

In any case, I think your original suggestion to move it to "Portland Beavers Ballpark" is fine. When we have more info about the team's future, likely this summer, we can decide whether the article should continue to exist on its own. Meanwhile, Portland Beavers really needs to be updated (maybe with some of the info you put in 2009 Portland Beavers season?) to include some of the info about the relocation. merge with Portland Beavers

As much as it pains me to say so, it's becoming increasingly unlikely that this ballpark will be built any time soon. The Beavers are almost certain to play elsewhere next season and may never return to Portland. There is no credible ballpark plans, or even location, on the horizon. I suggest moving the contents of this article to the Beavers article. If something comes along, it can always be reinstated, but for now, a wishful article about a theoretical ballpark is not encyclopedic. --Esprqii (talk)
