Smoking in the work place edit

It is possible that Wilenski's ban on smoking in the work place was the first such general ban in the world. I don't know if there are any sources for this.--Grahame (talk) 01:32, 23 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think it is a claim he made at the time, although Hitler certainly discouraged smoking in work places.--Grahame (talk) 11:12, 23 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Dr Wilenski wrote to the Atty General Bowen in late 1986. Bowen told him "in view of the Roy Bishop case you can now be sued". Days later Wilenski gave smokers advice that in 3 months smoking will be banned in all Commonwealth Offices- get used to it. Implementation of the ban led to State Governments and big business following -probably for the same reason. It started a world wide roll. My Atty, Terry Higgins told me during my 10 yr bout with the Commonwealth "Roy this is going nowhere unless you get the Unions onside". I successfully took it to the Peak Council. Its a long, untold story Grahame - Regards Roy Bishop Royrews (talk) 04:25, 21 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
