Flavour edit

I'm a bit perplexed, all the wild Persicaria hydropiper I have tasted in Victoria, Australia, has been bland. Am I eating the same species as found in Japan? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brunswicknic (talkcontribs) 13:04, 27 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Further on this, there appears to be some disagreement in the taxonomic naming of this plant. There is P.h. (L) Sprach, and P.h. (L) Delabre in the literature. Some sources only ascribe a Northern hemisphere distribution (http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/163977/0), this is for the Sprach described genus, Flora of NSW ( http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=sp&name=Persicaria~hydropiper) describing the Delabre named "variety" has both N & S hemisphere distribution. I suspect there is taxonomic confusion. Brunswicknic (talk) 13:13, 27 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
