Paul along with his brother Rick were raised in rural Camp Point, Illinois and attended Camp Point Central High School. From there, both Paul and Rick attended Western Illinois Univercity in Macomb, Illinois. They were signed by either Mel or El Tappy of near by Quincy Ill. Of note the Locals dialect pronouce the last name (Rooshal)although to the masses it has always been know as (Rushel).
