Leopold II?

Several sources--Morel's "Red Rubber", for one, and other history books on the Congo--assert that Leopold spent an immense amount of money (1.2 million pounds sterling back then) on improving the 'Laeken Palace'. Mobutu and Laeken

Apart from this claim in The Economist's article, I cannot find any further images or articles that corraborate the claim that Mobutu had a palace that looks like Laeken in Gbadolite? Gryffindor (talk) 18:15, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

You can (1) abide by basic WP procedure and discuss before you revert and (2) refrain from using antagonistic words like "nonsense", (3) read the well-sourced article castle and (4) use some reliable dictionaries. It is a very common error (please note: error) to translate Germanic words like schloss to mean castle, though the building is not castle at all but clearly a palace. Many people who do not have English as a first language, do not know the difference. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 15:00, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Controversial move without talk

The article should not have been moved, at least not without discussion, to an article name which now misleads readers to think that the building is a castle, which it definitely is not. It should have been discussed here whether or not local errors (see above) in fact should be perpetuated by Wikipedia regardless of purported frequency of use. An obvious error repeated and spread many times does not save it from being an error. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 16:14, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

I also think it should have been discussed. For reference, you can have the title reverted in a case such as this by making a request at WP:RM/TR and I have just put in a request. I agree that it is better to avoid "castle" which is a poor translation of château/kasteel (WP:BELGIUM has longstanding guidance on this point) and I think that the usage cited is not sufficient to create a real WP:COMMONNAME. Once the move has been reversed, Bernard Lee should feel free to open a WP:RM discussion to gain consensus for the change. —Brigade Piron (talk) 18:27, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
