Syed, it is because of users like you that the page has had to be protected in the first page. CLK has created the article in his sandbox which is exactly what should be done in this situation. He has almost established notability so his version will be checked and approved for creation. Genres

Let's please come to a consensus on genres here so there is no further back-and-forth. The general feeling seems to be that dance-pop and eurodance apply, and both are sourced. As some reviewers may categorize it by using the broad term "dance" or "dance music", I believe we should go with more specific genres: e.g. just reading the Wikipedia article on Dance music shows it covers a huge range of music, and one of the sub-categories listed under "2010s" is Dance-pop. Dance by itself leads to the act of dancing - obviously not the same thing. - eo (talk) 21:01, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay this should put an edit to this. The song upon listen is arguably "Don't Stop the Music" part two. So, dance-pop is definitely the headline genre. However, her vocals on the chorus are very different to that on DSTM, in the sense that they are very soulful and R&B-like - and extremely similar to Whitney Houston's "Million Dollar Bill". Therefore, I believe it should be classified as dance-pop and R&B. Although it has eurodance and house music characteristics, it is not a eurodance nor a house song. Rihanna is an R&B/Pop artist, the vast majority of her singles to-date are R&B songs combined with X genre which is usually a pop sub genre or just pop. I do not see how this is an exception for this song with main reference to the vocals on the chorus which on listen are not typical to that of the eurodance or dance-pop genre. • Lets do the math: Dance club beats means/or is equal to DANCE POP. ""This Euro-pop dance" is a direct quote so is euro pop no ifs ands or buts.
• All of this adds up to what ive written in the composition section ; "Only Girl" is a mid-tempo dominant dance-pop song that incorporates elements of euro-dance pop in its production and beats.

Now, i have explained in detail the genres. Unless a new source states the song is a different genre like R&B, it is not to be added. The genres currently listed are not to be removed, doing so will be considered disruptive, so dont remove them, please and thank you. It will be updated thursday, theres a hidden note beside the charting that states "According to http://www.billboard.com/column/chartbeat/chart-highlights-country-rock-songs-more-1004114305.story?tag=hpfeed#/column/chartbeat/chart-highlights-country-rock-songs-more-1004114305.story?tag=hpfeed the single has and will chart at 31 on Thursday, September 16th 2010." The charts section on this page says it's #3, but the discography page says #1. Lil, I don't think there's a problem with a user editing his own comments, especially before anybody's even replied to them. "Gender bending"

Regarding this edit: I realize that "hot guy" may not be the correct lyric, but Rolling Stone is a generally reliable publication and any "gender bending" analysis is certainly of note. Are there reliable sources that say the lyric is something else that can be used as a footnote? Or is there an official source that provides the song lyrics? (I know Google Play has lyrics for certain songs, and sometimes the lyrics on Genius.com are verified by performers/songwriters.) Here's what I'm thinking:

Jon Dolan for Rolling Stone commented that Rihanna is gender-bending in the line "Love me like I'm a hot guy."

There is a big difference between "hot guy" and "hot ride". The latter is correct. Gender bending has nothing to do with riding, of any sort, especially a car. Therefore it is completely pointless to keep it in. So I don't see why you would want to keep it when the lyric is wrong and mistaken by the RS reviewer. It makes that part of his review completely redundant. And that is all there is to it, there's nothing else to discuss. It's sourced on the article, clearly you haven't looked hard enough. And no, I don't think citing wrong information and a misinterpretation about wrong information, no matter who it is by, is worth including, because hey, it's wrong! It's misleading for readers to reader something that isn't factually true and gives off the wrong information. I guarantee that people reading it will edit the article and change the word to "ride", then the sentence won't make sense. For once, take a back seat, and don't put peoples backs up any more than they already are. We made it clear in our edit summaries why we reverted. it's pretty clean cut and simple to understand. Could you point out where it's sourced? I do not see the phrase "hot ride" in the article.

Before we even continue with this debate about right/wrong lyrics, you need to start by providing multiple sources that support your "hot ride" lyric to counter the RS claim. Until then, the "hot guy" lyric is assumed correct since I have not seen a reliable source claiming otherwise. I know that Rolling Stone is a respected musical source, however, sometimes even the best can make their mistakes (at the end of the day we are all human beings). I think the best is to exclude it, because there are other versions of the lyric too like "hot ride", "hot pie" and obviously, "hot guy" which is totally non-sense and ridiculous. For example, Musicnotes.com thinks it's a "hot pie", Metro Lyrics (which is an official lyric provider for Wikipedia) has the correct lyric "hot ride". What does this mean? "Entertainment Weekly writer Tanner Stransky the video positively, commenting on the video's simplistic theme, noting it makes it seem "as if Rihanna is speaking directly to you, the viewer, and she is your one and only amid swallowing rolling, beautiful, swallowing landscapes." I can see in the history and recent edits that there have been some disagreements between anonymous editors on the genre that this song falls under. From my personal knowledge, I would be inclined to indicate the genre as Dance, however others may have other information contributing to the idea of indicating it as Europop.
