Minions Height

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I got here from digging through some (admittedly hilarious) web pages on how big objects/people in the Despicable Me universe are, and I see that many people seem to be referencing this un-sourced claim that the height of a minion is 3.5ft. From what I can see, this claim was added here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Minions_(Despicable_Me)&oldid=884322984. If no one can provide an actual citation for this, it should be removed, no?

Agree that it should be removed if there isn't a citation, I saw a reddit thread that suggested the height claim originated from this site: https://www.animationsource.org/despicableme/en/custom/&id_film=135&nump=8491 but I'm inclined to disagree with that given many images of minions pictured next to bananas suggest they're much smaller than 3.5 ft. Unless the bananas are also larger in the Minions Cinematic Gru-niverse.

Minions Article

I hope you all understand to leave my edit alone. It’s annoying when others try to edit the article again.

See WP:BRD and WP:OWN. Once your edits have been reverted, discuss them rather than simply reinstating your preferred version. Also your edit implies a desire to own or look after the article personally - as per this article - you can't do that. Chaheel Riens (talk) 14:45, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

Minions Leadership

I think the Leaders section of the article needs an update. Scarlet is presumed deceased according to the plot of the Minions movie. El Macho was the temporary leader. According to the chronology of the current three Despicable Me movies, Gru is now a former leader and Dru is the Minions' current leader. 96.227.101.134 (talk) 08:22, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

  • The word you are looking for is "boss", not "leader". Why it says leader in the infobox, I have no idea. Even the Minions use the phrase "boss", never leader. Dennis Brown - 21:45, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

1933-1945

We should add who the minions served from 1933-1945, of course if it’s not canon don’t add it, but if it is, well, we know who to add.. 2601:246:900:1E20:313E:A4B9:A4E7:BE02 (talk) 05:18, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

– Ever since the Despicable Me came out, Minions always refer to the Despicable Me characters. The official Minions Twitter account uses @Minions. Also, nearly all of the results when you search up Minions all refer to these characters. I don't know why this move hasn't been made sooner. Thomasfan1000 (talk) 22:14, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

  • Oppose move. The long-term primary topic is the plural form of "minion". O.N.R. (talk) 02:49, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Question @Thomasfan1000: You want Minions (Despicable Me)Minions and MinionMinion (disambiguation)? What do you want to have at Minion? A redirect to Minions? (Not supporting or opposing right now, just trying to clarify the request.) Adumbrativus (talk) 06:19, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
    • @Adumbrativus I don't mind, but I think a redirect to Minions might be a better idea. Thomasfan1000 (talk) 14:25, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose per O.N.R. While Minions when referring to the characters may be primary wrt. usage, it's not primary wrt. long-term significance or educational value amongst other similarly-named articles, by a long shot. Cf. Amazon vs. Amazon (company). ‍ ‍ elias. 🧣 ‍ 💬reach out to me

  • Oppose Search results are based on pop culture spiking. Singular/pleural versions should considered the same thing, so minions=minion, and technically each specific character is a minion. Here the historical minion should be the primary with others as dabs.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 14:33, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose - ridiculous suggestion. -- Netoholic @ 03:26, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose Henchman is at the very least an equivalent primary topic, if not the actual primary topic by longterm significance. In any event there is almost certainly WP:NOPRIMARY of this word. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 10:28, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose. Significant? Yes. Primary topic? No. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:55, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Comment. I don't really mind if this move doesn't happen, it's just an idea I had. Thomasfan1000 (talk) 18:02, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Move to Minions (characters) – Over the last twelve years, it is particularly obvious that these characters have become so popular that I can understand not titling this article with "Despicable Me" as a modifier. However the term minion is still a synonym for a henchman so I think "characters" would make a better modifier. JE98 (talk) 15:27, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
I don't think that suggestion would be helpful, because that title could refer to the stock character type found across a lot of fiction. (Despicable Me) is accurate per WP:FILMCHARACTERS because it is the name of the franchise these specific characters appear in. -- Netoholic @ 02:14, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

Minions (Despicable Me)Minions (characters) – I would like to revisit the argument I made in the last move discussion ten days ago. These characters have been around for the last twelve years now and at this point "Despicable Me" is not entirely the best modifier anymore, "characters" is more appropriate as these guys are literally promoted everywhere nowadays. JE98 (talk) 18:39, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

  • Support You know, this could be a perfect move. As I understand that the term Minions has been around way before 2010. But you are right, Minions have kind of been associated as its own thing in terms of merchandise and such, and they are the most well known characters known as Minions. Thomasfan1000 (talk) 18:51, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

  • Oppose - Despicable Me is the name of the entire franchise that these characters appear in, and so is perfectly following WP:FILMCHARACTERS. -- Netoholic @ 01:39, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Will have to oppose per Netoholic ‍ ‍ Your Power 🐍 ‍ 💬 "O Goldwing'd messenger..."

  • Oppose. These are hardly the only minions that are characters! Completely ambiguous. Whereas the current title is completely unambiguous. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:06, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose per Netoholic. I've thought about the same thing, it would seem smoother in some ways, but the fact remains that they are known only because of the franchise, which makes is the proper title. Anyone searching for them might also be using the term "despicable me" in the search term, where as they are less likely to use the term "character". Dennis Brown - 11:10, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Strong oppose minions are an archetypal character class. There are many minions so there are many characters. Just look at the minions found in Austin Powers films, or minions in Venture Bros. -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 20:48, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose per Netoholic as well, per policy. If we ignore the dab naming rules, Minions (Despicable Me characters) would be ideal as the current title is awkward.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 01:02, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

Minions Home Country

In this article the minions are said to have come from Switzerland, but in Minions (Despicable Me) they are said to have been living in Russia. Were they living in a Swiss ice cave or a Russian ice cave? Do we have any undeniable proof for either? TsarTzar (talk) 22:51, 28 April 2023 (UTC)

Who did the Minions serve from 1933 to 1945?

Does this really need to have its own section? I was under the impression that this was just a meme. No sources are cited, either. Should this be just deleted? I am in 9 (talk) 06:56, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
