Cleanup edit

Much of this article deserves a big fat "citation needed"Andrew zot 10:40, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I added an unsourced tag to the article, and did some light cleanup. Still needs a lot of work though. Quadzilla99 14:54, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article still needs a ton of work. The one reference is now 404 and there was a lot of obvious opinion/conjecture inserted into the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jatkins679 (talkcontribs) 16:48, 10 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. "He is widely regarded as one of the greatest fullbacks of all time." - I don't doubt it but what's the source? 142.196.225.88 (talk) 13:53, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Plagiarism edit

The whole college section, except for the last sentence, was cut and pasted from his nflplayers.com bio. I removed it, here's the source if anyone wants to use the bio as a source to construct his college career:[1] Make sure you re-word and that it's significantly differen it. A second source should also probabluy be used, maybe Purdue's official site has a bio on him. Quadzilla99 15:03, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I tagged it as a stub which it is now due to the removed info. Quadzilla99 15:05, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stats: rushing avg. vs. receiving yards edit

Since a few of you seem to be hellbent on using rushing average (despite the fact it's not very informative), let me ask you one question. First off, I'd like to say that how it's done on other infoboxes is irrelevant, especially since you're probably the ones adding them. It should be determined on a case-by-case basis, because frankly 3.7 yards per carry is below average and therefore not impressive at all.

Now, let's pretend you didn't know either stat of Alstott's. Now think - guess Alstott's rushing average. Personally, I'd guess maybe 3.5 or so. Hmmm, pretty close. Now guess Alstott's receiving yard total. I'd have no freaking clue. Given that we've basically just proved that the latter is a much more difficult stat to guess anywhere near it, we've proven that having his receiving yards in the infobox is much more informative to the greater number of people. Who cares if he's a running back. He received for other 2,000 yards, so that's plenty relevant. Just as Marshall Faulk how relevant receiving yards are. I bet he'd tell you he's more proud of those than his yards per carry.►Chris NelsonHolla! 16:17, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
