Major clean-up needed edit

This page reads like it was written by a 4 year old who doesnt know crap about sports. id clean it up, but i dont have time. not to mention theres quite a bit of pov in here as well. 69.119.143.219 01:08, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just did a lot of work on it; I hope this helps. The personal life section still needs more information, but I fixed a lot of grammar and put all of the baseball "Facts" into the writeups on each season. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 03:24, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Girardi Quote edit

Anyone else think that quote seems a little out of place in the intro paragraph? It's his former manager from his former team; maybe it should go somewhere in the Marlins section. Thoughts? --TrafficHaze (talk) 02:35, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

A minor point edit

"he had a blood alcohol level of .26, three times the legal limit". As far as I know, there is no legal limit inside of one's one home. Is this three times the limit for DUI, public intoxication, or something else? And if that's the case, should we modify it to say so, or is this ambiguity acceptable in the service of conciseness? Stilgar135 (talk) 23:19, 5 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

This page is incredibly editorialized and poorly written edit

Cabrera is putting up statistics comparable to Hank Aaron and Ken Griffey, Jr. at age 28,[2] and is considered one of the best hitters in baseball today. He is a very intimidating hitter, as he consistently hits the best pitchers in baseball. Dan Haren is quoted as saying, "You're going to make good pitches, and he's going to hit them."[3]

Needs to be rephrased, and probably doesn't go in the lead section of the page.

"Miguel began to rise through the Marlins' farm system teaming with future major leaguers Adrian Gonzalez and Dontrelle Willis. He began his professional career as a six-foot-two-inch 185 pound shortstop in the Gulf Coast League. Although he had below average speed, he had a rocket arm, above average plate discipline, and a thorough knowledge of the game. After batting .260 with 10 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs through 57 games, Cabrera was promoted to Class-A ball where he finished the final 8 games batting .250 with 6 RBIs."

...How do you define these things - rocket arm? Above average plate discipline? Unless you provide evidence to that effect, these are just unfounded statements that don't really belong here.

" There he teamed up with Dontrelle Willis, the left-handed fireballer with whom he would later join in the majors. In his fourth professional season, Miguel was shredding up the competition."

This page just doesn't read like it belongs in an encyclopedia. It's a lack of professionalism and a lot of editorializing.

Legal Matters edit

"It was reported that the Tigers' 2012 post-division-clinching celebration held in the clubhouse in Kansas City was not attended by Cabrera, who desired to abstain from the festivities, even though the dousing "champagne" was non-alcoholic.[71]"

This is a personal preference, not a legal matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.70.36.11 (talk) 01:50, 2 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's related to the content before it within that section. There is no better place to put it, most likely. - Hoops gza (talk) 23:06, 15 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reverted Edit edit

Go to 2018. Where it says...He finished the 2018 season with a .301 batting average....I changed to .299 but my edit wasn't accepted. The inline sources did not count his last game. Baseball Reference is up to date and says .299. So does ESPN and MLB. These sources should be used and the inline sources deleted. Thank you for your time.2601:581:8500:949C:38EA:AE57:3D7A:612B (talk) 01:29, 26 June 2018 (UTC) Was done. Thanks.2601:581:8500:949C:F94A:A139:7F5B:817B (talk) 13:56, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Claim of redundancy. edit

An editor made a claim here that it was "Repetitive" to indicate that a player led the Major Leagues in statistics. Suggesting by their edit that leading the Major Leagues in a category was equal to leading one of the leagues of the Major Leagues (there are both a National League and an American League). It's not. That's very basic. I'm making note of this here. I find the editor's revert to be stunningly incorrect-for an editor who edits baseball articles, it's hard to understand how they made this good faith mistake. --2604:2000:E010:1100:ECD9:58C:F10E:BE57 (talk) 23:53, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Meh, I'm not exactly stunned that this would happen. Any editor could misread an edit or two, especially during the holiday season, as a lot of us are surrounded by distractions. It looks like you have fixed the issue. Larry Hockett (Talk) 00:08, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

  • In the Venezuelan Winter League, Cabrera was signed by Tigres de Aragua at 16 years old. - reorder this sentence to state his age first so we aren't talking about his career as a whole. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:36, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
