Proposed merge with Archive Manager edit

There is only a single line of content - not enough of an independent article 🍺 Antiqueight confer 11:56, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

There isn't anything to merge, since it's already mentioned in this article. If it can be expanded, it can reasonably stay, since I'm finding appropriate coverage of the product itself, but otherwise I'd delete it. I'd say redirect except that "archive manager" is a generic term, and there could just as easily be a Microsoft Archive Manager, a Symantec Archive Manager, etc. Well, maybe a redirect anyway, until there's a reason to disambiguate. —Largo Plazo (talk) 12:33, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cool - I'll go back and look again - I have to admit I didn't see it mentioned but I was on lunch so easily distracted. Thanks!-- 🍺 Antiqueight confer 22:04, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Kburnside 13, and thank you for your suggestions. I'm afraid your edit request is going to be   Not done, as even with your proposed changes, the article would still need a significant amount of work. At least you've helped fix some of the copy-paste issues. But other wordings remain too closely paraphrased for me to feel comfortable accepting, for instance, the first and second edits.
Additionally, the article has broader problems that have not been fixed. We need to have more citations to independent sources; right now, the article relies too much on Metalogix's website and press releases from CMSWire. The article needs to do less marketing and feel less like a product catalog. I'd recommend taking a look at Microsoft Office to get an idea of how to describe products non-promotionally.
Because of these underlying problems, I see no immediate solution except for radically trimming the article's content. I regret having to take the painful step of removing so much of what you have written, but you are free to propose a second round of revisions (and make another edit request), and you may access the article versions you wrote in the page history. Please feel free to contact me or other Wikipedia editors if you have any questions. Best, Altamel (talk) 02:09, 19 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
