One of the bigger points of the Mesha inscription is where it agrees with Israel rather than contradicts it. It confirms that Israel likely did control Moab at one point, and gives information on the Israelite ruler Omri, who is barely mentioned in the Torah but is historically significant. Does anyone else think this is worth mentioning?

Sure, sounds like a decent contextualisation. I wrote the article in a bit of a rush 2 years ago and my haste kept it minimal. Thanks for the input.

transcription or translation edit

Is this available? [1] claims that the name of Israel's god, YHWH, appears on the stele. Can this be confirmed? How is it used. Surely the language of the monument is Moabite and the name may have a different reference? Bruce D. Despain (talk) 20:10, 12 March 2018 (UTC)Bruce D. DespainReply
