Breweries versus Brewing Companies edit

Surely to be a brewery, a brewing company has to actually brew. That is, if you contract brew your beer, you're not actually a brewery. Thoughts? Notalent (talk) 04:50, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion criteria? edit

I propose we follow Wikipedia:Notability (breweries) for the inclusion criteria here.

Minimally, each entry has to be verifiable. To avoid WP:NOTDIRECTORY, WP:NOTADVERTISING, and WP:NPOV problems, each entry without it's own article should be verified by independent, reliable sources. --Ronz (talk) 16:39, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Websites column should be removed edit

The column of websites should be removed per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, WP:NOTADVERTISING and WP:EL. --Ronz (talk) 16:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Done. --Ronz (talk) 17:38, 1 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Editorial content in a list? edit

The following paragraph reads like an editorial, does not cite references and is not particularly relevant to the list. May I suggest it be removed? 203.206.253.69 (talk) 09:33, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Beer consumption has steadily declined over twenty years, while wine consumption has increased. The Federal Government maintains a heavy tax on beer since it is produced by "faceless" corporations. Wine is produced by local "farmers" and is thus exempt from the tax. A 9 litre carton of 4.5% ABV beer is typically available for $45AUD, while a 5 litre wine cask, of 12% ABV, may be bought for less than $12AUD.

Unreferenced redlinks edit

I have removed a large number of unreferenced redlinks. These entries which do not have an article should not be re-added unless they have independent reliable sources, per WP:LISTCOMPANY. IronGargoyle (talk) 22:05, 28 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I agree with removal of non-notable micro breweries but you did remove my notes on Nail Brewery - if you'd checked the article they are all cited & in fact the article was subject of a DYK on the fact it produced the most expensive beer in the world.Dan arndt (talk) 04:34, 29 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Micro or Craft edit

The only legal definition I'm aware of is micro brewery. The brewery must sell less than 30mt per annum, and the beer must be sold on site. It then escapes the exorbitant Federal excise on beer. Large breweries may also produce a beer specifically to sell on site, without excise. Craft breweries are simply an association, that has its own requirements ... Craft Beer Industry Association (Aust). Clearly they all produce more than 30mt/yr.220.244.90.105 (talk) 22:57, 9 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
